Dynamic hud is the real deal.
I know it's been said countless times but holy crap it's pretty.
You can tell why Kojima is licensing this engine for death stranding. It's a feat like no other.
And here I thought FFXV was the benchmark visually. This shits all over FFXV.

It's definitely more stealth than I was expecting.
I'm not far in, so maybe I'll get more overpowered at some point, but it definitely seems to push you in that direction a bit. When you come up on like two watchers and three striders, I guess you could just barrel in, but it doesn't seem like it would work very well.
I'm only comparing it to the witcher because that's the last game I played (not because they're both open world), but I'm having more fun with this so far, just because I like the combat more and I'm more intrigued by where the story is going.

My problem is once I stealth one guy they all follow.

I haven't really had that problem. If you can get back into the uncharted 4 high grass after a stealth kill it shouldn't be a huge problem.

Up and running finally! Conle is the man

man, this game is a blast so far. it succeeds where the Witcher succeeds in that the shite you do feels meaningful and masks the tropes present. story is much better than expected
my issues:
lots of weird graphical things. ill be talking to someone and itll stutter and look like like the character was dropped in at lightspeed. it happens quite often (running Pro with Favor Performance setting)
The camera seems weirdly offset at times (slightly to right or left). Anyone bugged by this. Also, the camera goes to complete shite and gets too close when youre in the settlements. Wish there was a setting to prevent that.
combat with humans kinda sucks. a bunch of reviews mentioned this, but man I didnt think it'd feel so bad. fighting the machines is fricking awesome and you really feel like you're hurting them. Fighting humans feels like Elder Scrolls almost. You feel like you're hitting them with nerf darts and you just watch their hp trickle

What is the general story? Not looking for spoilers, but something like what you would find on the back of a book. Most of the reviews I have read center on combat, graphics, etc. but not what the game is actually about past killing mechanical dinos

Very early in but loving it so far. The mechanics seem very smooth to me so far, especially the climbing, it feels much easier and smoother than say an Uncharted.

im still pretty early, but id describe it like this
young outcast works to attain membership to a tribe that worships the Feminist God, err, I mean the All-Mother. By earning membership, she can solve the mystery surrounding her birth/origins, but in doing so, she also puts herself at risk given a unique thing about her.
really dont want to get more specific than that

Enjoying the mechanics so much, I've just been farming in Nora region. Maxed out all my pouches for ammo and whatnot. No more hunting for fish bones!
Exploring all the locations with the ruins is great. Figured out the location the game takes place. Very interested to see how the meta plays out that took the world from point A to point B. Gotta admit, though, I'm not really digging the story dug up in some of the artifacts. Hope it goes somewhere soon.
There's an amazing view once you cross from Nora into the next territory. Can see clear across the map. Pretty spectacular.
There's a black lady War-Chief you'll meet and I swear she's voiced by the lady who played Florida Evans on Good Times.

That's what I need to do more of, just explore. I keep getting caught up in the main and side quests, the story is so good.

Was too late when I sat down last night so didn't get to play. Plan on it tonight for sure.

Did my first side mission last night and it was fricking terrible. I looked it up after and it apparently was shown in previews and got blasted, so I hope it's not an indication of all side quests. It's the brother/sister one. You literally follow a trail for 15 min, stopped to kill shite and use detective mode along the way. The payoff is horrible voice acting
Main missions have been awesome so far. Just got through the gate into the new area with my trusted steed

I did that one last night as well, i was hoping for a push him off the ledge option after going through all of that just for that payoff

Yeah I've seen people say it's better than W3 and I won't go that far. I think it is flawed but still much better than most open world games like fallout 4.
