One of my favorite, if not THE favorite, game of the current gen. My first plat on PS4.

From what I'm reading, people aren't all that impressed with the port as far as optimization, but the game is still great and all there, along with the lone DLC Frozen Wilds.

I might actually finish the game and play the DLC now.

I'm deep into a FO76 addition but should come off of that in about 1month. Excited to jump back into the world.

Tried it again last night. Just hate the feel of if and how it looks. I don't really get how they can build off of 4, which other than some lackluster character models, looked really good IMO, but this game somehow looks almost last gen. Maybe it's that first area I can't seem to get out of.

The game is still trash.

It's not fun at all, in fact its intentionally tedious so you can spend money in the atomic shop to make it easier.

Difficult to argue with you on this. The game play was super challenging yet rewarding. Each fight was expertly designed so that you had to devise ways to beat the creatures (robot dinosaurs as my 2yo called them). There are many different options both in regards to weapons loadouts and creature weaknesses, and it's up to you to find ways to weaken and ultimately defeat them. Most games are either button mashing or precise timing. This was clever tactics to win.

Unfortunately it's also why I never got to finish it. I don't have time to play games often anymore, so I would go many days between plays. Sometimes it could be weeks. I would have to relearn everything again, but with a game like that that has so many different options and sequences it finally became too much to relearn. I gave up.

But I agree that it is a fantastic game and one everyone should experience.

I'm finally playing HZD for the first time, and I think it's in contention for being a top 10 game of all-time. There's not much that's revolutionary about it (combat probably comes closest), but it stands on the shoulders of everything else and is just so incredibly polished. The story, the characters, the gameplay, everything is wonderful. I assumed it had been overhyped...nope.

the terrible sidequests and side character voice acting keep it from being in that stratosphere. main story was incredible but everything else was standard open world fare and lame fetch quests, albeit much more polished than most. good game overall

That's a good point, but the combat is so good that I don't mind too much. To me, the exact opposite of this is The Witcher 3. Fantastic story for a lot of the side quests, but the combat gets boring quickly. Both amazing games in my book, but I prefer HZD.

I had heard the port was not great; did they fix it or was my news off?

They actually fixed it fairly quickly with several patches. I played it without issue on my PC.

Yeah, it's been perfect for me on PC and seems to be optimized pretty well.
