On March 21, you’ll be able to explore the Forbidden West, battle awe-inspiring machines and encounter new tribes. Horizon Forbidden West is the beloved follow up to Guerrilla’s critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn, and this Complete Edition for PC also includes the Burning Shores expansion, which continues Aloy’s journey and takes players to a treacherous volcanic archipelago after completing the main quest.

Today we are excited to announce that the PC version of Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition is now available for pre-purchase with bonus content, including:

-Blacktide Outfit and Blacktide Bow* (available only with pre-purchase)
-Nora Legacy Outfit and Nora Spear* (available only when linking your Steam account to PlayStation
Network)
-2 Special Outfits (Carja Behemoth Elite and Nora Thunder Elite)
-2 Special Weapons (Carja Behemoth Short Bow and Nora Thunder Sling)
-In-game Resources Pack including ammunition, potions, and travel packs
-In-game Apex Clawstrider Machine Strike Piece
-Exclusive Photo Mode pose and face paint

Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition on PC features unlocked frame rates, customizable graphics settings and a broad range of performance-enhancing technologies, including NVIDIA DLSS 3 upscaling and frame generation. AMD FSR and Intel XeSS are also supported. For players with high-end hardware and extra headroom, image-enhancing NVIDIA DLAA is also available. The game leverages DirectStorage for quick loading times on PC.

On your journey in the far-future post-apocalyptic world of Horizon, you will discover a variety of highly detailed environments, including lush forests, sunken cities, vast deserts and impressive mountain ranges. With ultra-wide support, you’ll be able to take in the vistas in a panoramic view. Gameplay is supported in 21:9 ultra-wide, 32:9 super ultra-wide and even 48:9 resolutions with compatibility for triple-monitor setups.

Fully customizable mouse and keyboard controls let you traverse the Forbidden West and fight ferocious machines on your PC the way you want to. The game also features extensive controller support, including Steam Input support for remapping and customization of your peripheral of choice to your preferences. Use a PlayStation DualSense controller for the most immersive experience, with adaptive triggers that let you feel the tension in the string of your bow and haptic feedback that makes you feel the impact when you’re engaging in melee combat.

Highly recommend. I wasn't a fan of how boring they made Aloy in this game. The only times she's not a wet blanket is when she's yelling at Sylens. But a good and gorgeous game regardless. Burning Shores was a lot of fun as well.

Been waiting for this to come out on PC

Didn't want to have to buy a PS to play it. Next up, God of War Ragnarok

ETA: did I miss your return announcement, Sic? I thought you bowed out

Burning shores is great, better than the real game, cool that they include it for PC.

Loved this game. But it’s way bigger/longer than the 1st one. I played them back to back and by time I got about halfway through the 2nd I got burned out and never finished. Need to one day

Was just coming to post this. Extremely excited that all upscaling techs are included at launch and that it has native UW support. This is a day 1 for me.

They crammed so much stuff in this game. I want to finish a lot of it but it's so overwhelming.

Basically a year later and on PC, Feb 18th. Not bad at all from original release.

October 6th complete edition.

You will. Horizon isn't going anywhere. For me, if I don't start it and it goes on sale, I get mad for paying full price and not playing it. Another of my many character flaws.

I'm about halfway through Act 3, so I should be able to power through this weekend, then I'm going out of town next week. So hopefully when I circle back around to gaming at the beginning of April, the game will be a patch or two in to smooth things out.

I'll check for that dynamic resolution scaling when I get home.

What I never really played with was DLSS and frame generation.

I guess if it was playing good, I didn't worry about it.

I actually don't like frame generation, at least not the way it's currently implemented by both Nvidia and AMD. It only works properly if you already have a high framerate, and even then, it increases latency. Just seems like a solution in search of a problem.

Upscaling, on the other hand, can be extremely useful. It processes the game at a lower resolution and upconverts it using magics (the detail doesn't really matter :P). Especially using DLSS Quality, you get a solid frame boost with little to no degradation in visuals.

DLAA is Nvidia's proprietary anti aliasing tech. If you don't need the frame boost provided by DLSS (you can't run them both at the same time), native rendering with DLAA is absolutely gorgeous.

I'm now about an hour and a half into the tutorial area, and because I've been getting perfectly acceptable (60 to 75fps) framerates with extremely solid frametime pacing, I've actually been playing without upscaling with DLAA. We'll see if I need to switch to DLSS Quality in busier areas, but that's a problem for another day.

And to take the information forward from the other thread, this is with a 3080 and a 5800x.

It worked wonders for me in Cyberpunk 2077. It was already 70 - 100 FPS, but with a 144hz monitor, I could feel the dips. It smoothed out the framerate and fixed the dips.

Do you have a gsync/freesync monitor?
