I don't recall seeing a difficulty listing for them, it may be that their search feature only shows active campaigns at whatever difficulty level you already have set.
As for the type of mission, I think it gives you just the generic verbiage (Defend liberty for planting flags or powering up a base, for example).
Sidenote: Started guiding my reinforcement pod to high points and using my shotgun to snipe the shite out of things. If it's defensible enough I'll even call down a resupply. It's a lot of fun to hear your teammates bitching about you right up until they see that you're single-handedly holding the aggro of a dozen+ bugs off of them. Their "holy shite" moments were gold.

I'm just glad they told me in chat they were calling in an orbital so I could jump down the back side of the rocks before hell was unleashed in the name of liberty.

If you quick match, it matches based on the difficulty you have selected when you start the search.

Ah, okay, that makes sense, but is there any way to see what the mission actually is?
Sidenote: Hit Level 17 last night. The slow climb to Level 20 to unlock the Railgun and backpack shield continues tonight!

I haven't even tried a mission above "Challenging" let alone at the "Suicide" level. I've only been doing "Medium" Terminid missions because Chargers scare me so much

But tonight, I'm gonna dive into "Challenging" Terminid missions and try out some EATs, Autocannon Sentries, and maybe an Orbital Laser to take them out!

challenging isn't too bad still.
suicide also not overly difficult if your team has half a brain. it can go into "this is a shite show" mode real fast though.

Done a few 3 man missions on helldiver difficulty. Being aware of your surroundings is key and not engaging in patrols. The ems mortar is a life saver! Hit lvl 31 last night and the grind for democracy will continue later tonight! Y'all find me and drop in a game with me.

Those damn patrols. Went to hit an outpost last night with 3 others. 2 of us wanted to let a patrol go by. The other 2 went at them anyways. Next thing you know we had two more patrols plus the outpost on us. Then we were running trying to reinforce only to run into more patrols. I cursed those two out the whole time

Has anyone else encountered trolls who purposely kill you?
I got into a map about 30 seconds before completion (raising the flag). Took that time to take up position in case we get attacked and the prick killed me then didn't reinforce.
I guess the next step is for them to kill you then reinforce you back in, kill you the moment you spawn, rinse and repeat until you just leave the mission?

I had that situation, but acted like I didn't notice the first game. Then killed him on the commencement of the next mission, respawned him and did it over again until my game crashed. Very satisfying

Challenging isn't too bad if you have at least one gamer carrying the team. The other three can be scrubs like me and you still do fine.

i find myself running off to clear objective by myself while the other 3....well...do whatever they are doing. distracting bugs?

That sounds right. Most of the challenging I've joined there is one guy rank 15+ who knows what he's doing and I just go wherever they go and distract bugs while they're throwing map pins and shutting down objectives.
The game isn't really intuitive for all that goes into the missions, I think it takes a lot of reps to even start to figure out how to tackle all objectives.

This is why a large chunk of my 14 levels have been from soloing Trivial level missions. Not having anyone else to depend on forces me to learn more and I can take time in doing so (like learning the jetpack). Outside of grouping with friends I know I'll probably stick to doing solo trivials until I can just about do stratagems without having to verify each key push.

I feel so much more confident at Level 20 with all the meta stuff unlocked (i.e., Railgun, Orbital Railcannon Strike, Shield Generator Pack, etc.). Now I'm not scared when multiple Chargers or Bile Titans spawn
Now I need to start working on collecting the Rare and Super sample types to upgrade my ship.
