Okay, sure.

Isn't that the idea of any boss fight? Grinding to get the correct weapon and level and also learning the exploit of the boss?

No, not any. Just my opinion. But for a boss to be considered "hardest" for me it must have some input skill involved in it. Beating Emerald weapon takes no skill, you just have to grind and bring the correct gear.

Ruby Weapon is easy too. Just kill 2 of your party members before the fight.

Exploit. Doesn't mean it wasn't hard. If you don't think strategically thinking about all avenues of using the characters to their benefit is a skill, I dunno what to think.

My point proven. Dark Souls Remastered Speed run of 32 min

What is your hardest?

I understand what you are saying though but the Weapons in FF should be considered.

What? 1% of the population could do what was done in that video. He may use exploits but he still has to use timing and and input skills. The video I shared can literally be done by anybody if you gave them the information and time to grind.

You are disproving your point if anything.

I'm not sure.

Ornstein and Smough was a tough fight as some have said.

Some of the Megaman bosses were super frustrating back in the day.

The OP actually posted a really good one. Alma was a mess.

A recent one would be Sigrun. I actually gave up interest.

Not really as you have to look at the skill as mearly experience using those moves. He grinded and memorized the attacks of the bosses and the easy way to go about the game. Same thing as the FF weapons. To make it easy, you have to know what to do, grind to the level and get the material/items needed.

So in a boss fight like a dark souls boss, things like once the boss sweeps, he then teleports. All you have to do is know when to jump and when to dodge the attack after the teleport. It's just knowing what to do. It's skillful in both instances and essentially the same pattern of doing things.

I could write directions down on a piece of paper to my nephew and he could beat emerald weapon. That is just how it is. No memorization needed. Just preparation, some hero drinks and dead.

No amount of coaching will help him with dark souls until he gets the skills to go through the game.

Nobody who beats emerald weapon will impress me. And I have played way more hours of FF than any other single player game.

This is all just my opinion. If you have him as one of the hardest bosses of all time. That is fine.

I'm with Mystery on this one.

Ruby is harder than Emerald since Emerald has a very easy pattern to him.

I understand that but if you didn't know the exact directions or exploits that were available on the internet, it was hard. I went into that match with no knowledge on how to beat him and never looked online for anything.

Dark souls you could easily tell him the exact counters and such to look for and to do it. Skills going through the game is the exact same thing as getting the right inventory and skills to fight the weapons. Not saying it's easy though as it's obviously hard but the reasoning is still there.

I never said it was that impressive. I just said it was one of the hardest I've fought. It's all in pattern recognition.

To kind of prove it was tough, if you look up how to beat emerald weapon, you see a video with 300k views from 4 years ago. It was obviously tough as a lot of people wanted to know how to beat a particular boss that was around in '97 and still pretty popular 20 years later.

I didn't play a lot of solo games so there are obviously harder bosses but it was hard to a lot of people. Stop with the high and mighty on this subject. It's opinionated anyway.

Also he is in almost all of the hardest bosses of all time lists.

5. Emerald Weapon
Final Fantasy VII (1997, PlayStation/PC)

Unlike in Kingdom Hearts 2, Sephiroth isn’t nigh unbeatable in Final Fantasy VII, despite being its main antagonist. As epic as that final boss fight is, the real challenge in FFVII is taking down the various Weapons that appear around the globe — and Emerald Weapon is the hardest of them all. Emerald Weapon lives in the sea and can only be accessed by submarine, which adds another layer of creepiness to the whole encounter. What makes the battle particularly daunting is that the superboss boasts a staggering HP of 1 million, several times more than the One-Winged Angel himself, and the whole thing is on a 20-minute countdown timer — no pressure! Emerald Weapon is also loaded with attacks that will easily knock your party out in one shot if you’re not properly prepared, which means going far beyond the training the rest of the game requires.

Square Enix really knows how to beat you down, even when you've earned a mega-sword that should turn any boss battle into a breeze.

Once you got her attacks down it wasn't much of an issue but even then her assaults are relentless.

I found even though you fight within a circle you still can put yourself into a corner. Always staying a good distance away from the boundaries helped a lot for me.

Detlaff in witcher 3 beat my arse a bunch.

Is this the vampire dude from Hearts of Stone? I beat him on normal mode with a little challenge but I could tell he would be super tough on a higher difficulty.

Not really hard, but I spent about 3 hours fighting the head of Quina's people in FF9. His attacks weren't very strong but his heal magic was. Every time I hit him he would heal right back up. It was quite a grind to finish him off.

Well, I stand corrected on my list. Ruby wasn't the one I really struggled with. It was the ocean one so Emerald was the rough one.
