Nothing wrong with that, RDR 2 was similar to some degree. You needed to get money to update the camp, which unlocked very import parts to game play. While you could technically advance, it would just be harder. Playing through RDR 2 a second time was even worse, knowing you could not advance the game until you committed Morgan to die. That fricking sucked.
I am sure if you follow the general script you will get enough minimal money to keep going.

Then Odyssey was supposed to be only Kassandra, but same thing happened again, and we got Alexios as well. The VA for him was pretty garbage and you can almost tell it was a last minute change.
