Either way, all his shite was right. Druid/Sorceress/Barbarian, 3rd person Isometric (none of that overwatch engine FPS from the OP), and dark/gory as hell.

The trailer for D4 is insane

Just started streaming it late. Holy frick that Diablo 4 cinematic was intense. Really dark too. Not nearly as kid friendly as D3.

I have to say I'm happy with how they're handling OW1/OW2. Basically OW2 will just be a PvE expansion but OW1 will get the art upgrade and all heroes released in OW2, maps, competitive modes, etc. All earned cosmetics available in both games.

So exactly how much of the 4Chan leaks were bullshite?

D4 looks amazing.

I'm sure some of you may remember when Diablo 3 was first announced almost everyone was very vocal it didn't look like Diablo. It was way too colorful and cartoony. It didn't look or feel gothic at all. The "evil" in the game was Saturday morning cartoon evil. This controversy raged for awhile but Blizzard (probably that disaster Jay Wilson) dug their heels in and refused to change it. The Whimyshire hidden level is basically an FU to the people who were complaining



But after D3's original launch and Wilson's departure then they've been backpeddling hard. They sold the D3 expansion Reaper of Souls as being more dark and sinister and now it's no surprise that one of the biggest marketing points of D4 is that it's a return to the original D1/D2 look and feel.

It's good to remember that Diablo 1/2 were not created by Blizzard, they were created by a different company that Blizzard had purchased and branded Blizzard North (which has long since been shuttered). Absolutely nobody who worked on D1/2 had anything to do with 3, so it losing the Diablo feel was always a danger.

In a perfect world they would have responded to feedback for D3 but at least they seem to have learned their lesson.

Nevermind maybe 2024.

Watching some gameplay streams it's probably too early to freak because the game is so far away and almost everything is subject to change but yikes, the game is oversimplified to hell.

There are no character stats, of any kind. The only stats in the game are Attack/Defense/Life/Mana. No strength, no agility, no intellect, no resistances, none of that.

The skill trees are not trees at all, they are just straight lines you go down and unlock things, there's no branches. More like skill trunks.

The max level is planned to be 40. Like, what?

Max party size 4, like D3.

For all their talk about trying to return to Diablo's roots, outside of the art style it's far more similar at this point to D3 than D2.

Like I said, it's early and hopefully all this will change, but it's pretty disheartening because modern Blizzard games are oversimplified to hell to the point it makes them uninteresting.
