Haven't kept up with this thread, but I have this game and I thought it was fun, but kind of lost steam with it at some point and really have no desire to go back to it. Did you get the DLC, and if so, would you say this gives this game more staying power?

Yes, the hutt contracts for unlocking new stuff is pretty cool.
The DLC maps are all pretty fun. I like the whole Bespin playlist, Scarif is fun too. The heroes are fun. Ecept for Lando since he is broken right now.
I feel like I still have tons to do and unlock, including skins.
All of this comes with a caveat. I am a huge star wars nerd and the ability to play a game that is well made and visually true to the series while also being fun means it has tons of built in lasting power for me personally.

It is if you have the expansions. Two of the three villains are basically nerfed with the addition of so many long-range power houses like Chewbacca and Lando. Vader is practically useless. Luke is still good because of his speed, but Vader just gets peppered from long range, same as the Emperor.
I enjoy the game, but the lack of team scramble is absurd.

Not sure I'd agree either Vader or the Emperor are useless. Someone almost always picks Vader in every HvV round I play, and he seems to fare as well as any other character, if not better. The Emperor is not as strong as he is, but still sees a lot of play, and still seems to do all right. I'd say more than half the HvV rounds I play these days, the three Empire villains are Vader, the Emperor, and Krennic (who I do think sucks, but more likely I just don't know how to use him well).
Now on Lando being overpowered, we can agree. That Power Blast is ridiculous.

You can do well with Vader and Palpatine if you know what you're doing, but they are severely over-matched, even to the likes of like Jyn and Krennic. This has been my biggest gripe in the game is that the Jedi/Sith are pretty much the "weakest" heros because of how much the game favors the gun and their complete lack of range.

Pretty much why I don't play HvV at all.
Also, frick Lando glitchers. If I see one on my team I just jump in front of them like I am blocking out in a B-ball game and they eventually kill themselves with splash damage.

I have managed to turn the ship around. Pretty regularly get more kills than deaths now which is an big deal to me

That means you are above average. As long as you are having fun you are good to go.
The EE4 and EE3 are the best guns on the game. Pair with berserker or body guard, bacta bomb, jump pack and adrenaline or personal shield and you have a recipe for success

I suck, and I'm not afraid to admit it. I rarely get more kills than deaths, and usually I have much more of the latter than the former. But then, my style of play is mostly "run towards the nearest laser fire and start shooting," so I guess that figures. I play for the action, not to win.

As long as you are playing the objective and having fun, KD ratio does not matter.
I like keeping my KD as high as possible while playing the objective. I mostly play walker assault. currently sitting at 3100 total kills with a 1.46 KD ratio. Nothing to write home about either.

I do think it takes too long to rank up. It will take me until Battlefront 2 is released to unlock the Shore Trooper Captain outfit.

I agree, I just hit 51 and it feels like I am grinding away endlessly. I am happy with my shadow trooper skin. Really helps on dark maps. People tend to be looking for that white storm trooper and hesitate for a second when seeing the black outfit.
It is awesome on endor, sorosuub complex, death star, basically any map that has a majority dark atmosphere.

Completely depends on your style, but I'll tell you what I have the most success and fun with:
-EE3 or EE4 blaster depending on the map size (EE3 for big maps EE4 for smaller maps)
-Bacta Bomb
-Jump Pack
-Scan Pulse
-Berserker Trait
I almost never aim down sights so the base +15% hip fire damage is a godsend because it allows you to do extra damage up close and keeps the damage drop off from affecting you at range, turning the EE3 into a long range threat and the EE4 into a competent medium range weapon. It is 30% at trait level 2 and 50% at level 3.
Bacta Bomb keeps you in the fight more and can get you out of a tough spot . Hide, heal, pop back out and get back to fighting at 130 health instantly.
Scan Pulse lets you stay tactically ahead of the curve. I take positioning very seriously because the time to kill in this game is incredibly short. Knowing where your enemy is before they know the same about you is essential IMO.
Jump Pack is for both defense and offense. Getting you out of a bad situation or putting you in the best position to kill.
I don't exclusively use this setup, but it is my "try hard" loadout.

I hope they leave out the jump pack in Battlefront 2. It's annoyingly used by certain players to reach otherwise inaccessible areas. The Scarrif map where players jump on top of the cargo ship and the Tatooine map with the sandcrawler are some of the worst offenders.
It is good for getting out of trouble though. A lot of times, you've almost killed someone and they jet pack right over your head. It's practically useless in deathstar though.
