Lol I’ll love it if I love it.
I’ll hate it if I hate it.
Everything just isn’t black or white for me.
Esp things that aren’t even complete yet.

There will obviously be gate keepers/plot police as mentioned above but they will pale in comparison to those who are just having a good time.
Count me in here. I was hoping the plot would change a bit, tbh.
Honestly, the biggest buzz kill of the FF community are the middle aged bro’s who scream ‘get off my lawn’ anytime anything changes. It happened with the combat for FFXV and I’m experiencing it again with the plot in this game.

Which is fine because it will mean something to them eventually. Even give them something to look forward to. Never watched a movie with flashbacks/forwards?
The shock of finding out about Cloud later in the game is going to be a bit cheapened by this IMO. Same with Aerith... But with that said...

You won't even begin to know what the complaints are about until chapter 17.

FF 15 sucked, cause it sucked, IMO. That is a whole other issue.
FF 7 remake is a good game in it's core. A great game I will say.
It just made drastic changes to the plot in chapter 17 on for no reason other than that Nomura doesn't want to make just a rehash. Which sucks for people who didn't want a drastic departure from the original story.
If they were going to do that they shouldn't have told everyone they were going to keep it the same.

I donno but I felt I have know for the longest time there would be changes to the plot. Also I don’t get how people are still thinking this was gonna be the complete game.
I just can’t nor won’t judge the changes until we start to see how these changes are implemented in later installments.

This has nothing to do with my view on anything story related. I am just basing it off of up to Shinra HQ.
But I don't want to keep harping on it. We can just agree to disagree. It's just my opinion.

Didn’t say it did. Just that people don’t pay attention.

Like FFVII remake, it was in the 80’s on metacritic.

Oh come on on lol. It was an 81. Don't use in the "80s". And I bet the user score is even worse.
It's okay that you like the game.
It is also okay that I think it was a bad game.

And I get it. People love what they love. But just because I love 1920’s film...doesn’t mean everyone here in 2020 will. The series is older than a lot of current gamers and change has to happen to kept relevant. Sometimes the changes are bad...but are learned from..sometimes they aren’t. There is a lot that goes into it..
My problem with XV was how bland it was on release and how I felt I was robbed. All the DLC and character building should have been included in the base game...but I think a lot of pressure was there to get the game out when it just wasn’t ready. XV needed more time.
But if you look at the complete games reviews on steam....the reviews are very very solid. So obviously there is something there for a lot of people and I think that crowd was the newer crowd. Which is great.

For sure. There are a lot of even more heralded games that I didn’t enjoy

sorry dude, but if they don't have seph killing aerith, it's an epic fail
that'd be like mufasa living in a Lion King remake or something similar. you can change minor things and integrate all the lore from the other media and whatnot, but you can't have the dev team expect to change the major story beats and not come off as complete dipshits

But if...but if...but if...but if.
But if we just wait till it is all done we can really come to a conclusion on the whole game.

great, we can discuss it all in 6 years
Posted on 4/14/20 at 11:12 am to Carson123987
Lol you can discuss it now. I’m personally not going to play the but/what if game.
I’m not saying it wouldn’t be a fail but I’m also not saying it wouldn’t be turned into a success somehow either. I just don’t know.

I do agree with this. If this doesn’t happen idk how they’ll make it work.

We still talking about the single most impactful moment in video game history possibly not happening bc of some timeline frickery?

i dont see why theyd bother with it if they werent gonna make some bold changes. like I said earlier in this thread, all they had to do was integrate all the external lore and flesh out the areas, implement a fun combat system, add good side content, and it's perfect. why risk fricking that up?
im starting tonight, guess I'll see where it goes
