Final Fantasy pixel remasters (1-6) coming to PS and switch April 19th

With 2x XP, i might consider buying if it's cheap. Some of those are grind fests that just don't interest me anymore.

Out of the first 6 I’ve only beat 1 and 4. 1 was definitely a grind, I don’t remember 4 being to bad though

I almost always prefer playing the original versions of games so I was pretty excited for pixel remasters that kept the original vision intact. I bought them and tried to play FFV, but I ended up getting a refund for it. The text was too annoying to read. Not just the font (which everyone complained about but is easily fixed with a mod), but the way the dialogue doesn't scroll properly.
Ended up just playing through FFV on my MiSTer FPGA instead

I'm confused. Did they already make remasters of those games? I thought this was coming in a week.
I've always wanted to play them but never have.

Yes but I believe they were only for mobile. They’re just now coming out for console. I played 1 and 4 on mobile years ago, they weren’t the pixel remasters though

The Pixel Remasters were originally released for Windows/Steam and mobile platforms in 2021.
Square Enix is now updating them and releasing on Switch and PlayStation in 2023.

IIRC, there's the ability to turn off random encounters for each/all of the games.

I have played FF6 so many times and will play it again on PS. If any game deserves a full remake, it's that game. Story was incredible, cast of characters amazing. I can't wait.

I used to be obsessed with perfection on FF6 and got every character to level 99 and taught them all every single spell. I have no clue why looking back on it.

The original pixel remasters looked like garbage, from the screenshots I saw. Looks like they are making the graphics a little more cohesive for this version.
Though I don't know that I'd have a the patience to play any of these games again these days.
An example of what I mean from the ones available now--look at that high-res font and moon next to clouds that have bigger pixels than Celes. I don't know how anyone can stand that.
Okay, I just found a screenshot of the new one and it looks like the only thing they fixed is the font. That was the worst offense but they still could have done it much better.

As someone who has beaten all of these before, I’ll probably break down and end up buying this anyway
