It's a solid game and one of the more underrated FFs imo
Graphics,Gameplay,and Music were very good
Story was OK but not fantastic
Tip:After you get familiar with the gameplay, Turn auto-battle off and put abilities as your default its much better.

How do you do magic in FFXIII? Or do I have to wait for a character that has magic to come along? I am relatively new to the Final Fantasy games.

Way too linear for my taste. It wasn't terrible, but is toward the bottom of FF games.

Yea I heard it is linear until the very end. I have no idea about XIII-2. Lightning Returns looks really cool so I'm trying to get through the series. I am enjoying it so far, but I haven't played very many final fantasy games. I wish they would go ahead and put a release date on FFX.

I still believe that if the first reviews on kotaku and sites like it weren't "wahhhh it's soooo linear" that at least 3/4ths of the bitching of its linearity wouldn't exist. Not saying it isn't, the maps sure as hell back up that idea instead of refuting them, but many games are similar but nothing is said cause it wasn't pointed out.
I liked 13, ended up 100%ing it.

When do you start to get money or am I suppose to be selling my items? I am on chapter 11 and only have around 6,000 gils. I read online where people recommend to start upgrading your weapons once you get to Pulse.

You only get Gil from selling the items you steal or the ones that drop from enemies.

Yes. Certain ones are used to get higher tier weapons iirc.
You can tell which is which based on the category separation when selling. Last one is stuff for selling iirc.

I really like Final Fantasy XIII, the dialogue and jargon is bit cheesy and eye rolling bad, but this game is nowhere as bad as most make it sound.
The thing that shocks me is how much universal praise Final Fantasy X gets, but Final Fantasy XIII is the "bad one"
