I haven't picked up any of the Far Cry games. The announcement of 5 has peaked my interest. How's Far Cry 4? Primal? Is it worth playing the older games in the series?

Far Cry 2 is pretty good
Far Cry 3 is amazing
Far Cry 4 is okay
And I don't think Far Cry Primal really resonated with folks.

I wouldn't worry about the original Far Cry at all, and they are all standalone stories that can be played separately.

With the popularity of Horizon Zero Dawn I am surprised more people didn't like Primal, they aren't the same game, but similar. I loved Primal.

3 and 4 are pretty much the same game, 4 being a better version of 3. Both really fun. I had no interest in the setting of Primal so never gave it a shot.

I'd give 4 a shot. Definitely follows the Ubisoft blueprints for open world games, but it's a lot of fun.

Again, haven't played primal, but other than the whole tribe thing I'm not seeing anything that would make those games similar at all.

I hated two b/c of the seemingly constant malaria.

Far Cry Instincts is the best and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. One of the best multiplayer communities and experiences I've ever had. Predator mode on Mercy Creek Miss those days.

I played through 99% of it. Got to the boss. Had a little trouble getting the rocks to hit him. Quit, after I decided I didn't really care.

Never looked back.

Played through all other Far Cry games, except 1.

Wish they would do more like Blood Dragon.

Do you like climbing towers?

Do you like the world's worst protagonists?

Do you like anti-climactic boss QT events?

If your answers to those questions happens to be yes, then Far Cry 3 is for you.

Primal was my favorite because all the others felt the same to me. I'd just play 4 and primal. Or don't even play 4, just wait for 5.
