I’m ready for the first open world game that uses AI in all of their NPCs so you can have truly unique dialogue and stories. I know there have been Skyrim mods that have tried to do that

Seems like that has to be coming soon.

Just speaking for my own industry, it is insane how much AI is able to do this year when compared to what it could do last year. It's scary how quickly it is improving and learning.

What's scarier is I know Universities are not teaching for this. Upcoming college grads are not going to be prepared to enter the AI-embracing workforce. Everyone should be encouraging their kids to seek out internships with companies embracing AI so they get familiar with it in a corporate setting. Or to take government jobs because governments suck at adopting efficient technology.

The guy recruiting the bear to get revenge on the town guards, claiming they killed his family

Was pretty damn entertaining

I try to explain the pace at which it’s improving to people but they don’t seem to know or care until it impacts their profession directly.

This would be a good gaming board analogy:

1. This year it can make NES games.
2. Next year it can make Switch games.

That's how fast it's improving.

EQ tried to do a scaled down version of this about a decade or so ago with EQ: Next/Landmark, I don't think they ever got the AI working correctly because it was the only really big system they never implemented before the plug was pulled.

It's damned ambitious, and could happen within the next 10 years or so. If it does, it will be a massive change to not only how games are made, but how they are played as well (for example: having personalized AIs who can sub for missing teammates, or a whole team of them).

They're locked in with IBM and like everyone else who let the IBM salespeople into the door, moving off of their equipment/ecosystem is stupid hard.

I'm thinking smaller, but yes you are correct. I work with local governments who never even fully integrated into computer based accounting. Never adopted a full CFO model or even looked at hiring someone with an accounting degree to operate their finances. They want to pretend a city clerk is qualified to run their accounting department (which doesn't exist).

No matter where you are in this country, I guarantee there is a government running like this near where you live. These places are about to be so far behind, yet they believe they're equipped to regulate this stuff.

Anyway, if anyone has a kid who isn't embracing AI, there's a local government job perfect for him/her.

Once it can do SNES and N64/PS1 level games I’ll bet we see an explosion of indie production. Tons of people still love and will play games from those eras of graphics.

And sky screamers can yell about it all they want, but the average gamer does not care that a game is made with AI.

Long, long ago when I was just starting in IT and liked to procure cracked software, I set up a DA's office on a leaked OEM key for XP (not a paid job, but as a favor because they were having computer problems and I knew "computer stuff"). I had to really underscore to them to NEVER do an update to SP2.

Back around 2013 or so we had someone come work for us who had been working at the state legislature. She was blown away that we were on Windows 7 and Office 2010/13.

It's crazy man. Career government employees are an extreme drain on our country. There's a real culture of not adopting new things because efficiency means fewer jobs needed and fewer jobs needed means less people riding that gov retirement gravy train.
