Same. It's especially frustrating when you put in the time only to get to a boss that's so buggy that it kills you before it appears on your screen. I had that happen for hours on my first effort to clear a Souls game, and haven't gone back.

4 Kings. I tried every strategy available, would die before they appear. I have never been able to actually see any of the kings on my Souls game. I finally gave up and never picked up another Souls game. Screw that. If you're going to make your game that challenging it better not have game breaking bugs.

There is a special ring you have to wear to survive the fall into the abyss and be able to fight the Four Kings.

I've never heard anything about that bug, on any platform. You're doing something wrong.

I'm not.
ETA: I would fal all the way down, not die from fall damage, pre-cast spells and buffs for the fight, and then randomly die before seeing any of the 4 show up. No idea what was causing it but it happened too many times for me to care to try again.

Are you removing the ring after you fall? You have to leave it on for the fight.
Also, you have to immediately run towards the first king that appears. You have to get to him asap.

I think in every NG run I've ever done of Dark Souls, I've always used the Havel cheese for Four Kings.
Full Havel's armor, Grass Crest Shield on back, Cloranthy Ring, Charcoal Pine Resin (optional), two-hand strongest weapon, and just run right up to a King and keep swinging your weapon until he's dead. Heal in between Kings and you should be fine. You can also eat Green Blossoms to help with stamina regeneration.

ETA: I play games to escape reality. If I wanted to get beaten up by dark creatures I’d save the 60 bucks and just drive to Cortana mall

How about just not play the game and find another escape.
That would be like me sucking at chess and then downloading something to turn it into checkers.
Not the way it was meant to be played.
