What pisses me off if they could have used the resources to make another DLC like the fantastic one last year. Or even Elden Ring 2.

Hope it bombs so they do t waste anymore resources or time on this genre

Yeah, as a diehard FromSoftware fan games like this make me nervous. I want them to continue to iterate on their formula which has been such a success the past 15 years.

This game is very much them following triple A slop trends. Fast paced, online, lobby based, co-op multiplayer games, ugh.

I know it was kind of a spinoff experimental title and their main crew wasn't doing it, but I really don't want them to try to expand into "conventional" games and abandon what actually built their brand.

Probably people dooming a little too quick but their Switch game is also a multiplayer only online game too so yeah.... do not want.

Made a few runs tonight with friends and one with a random. I enjoyed it thoroughly what little I made it through. It will take a bit to get used to the way it works and the feel of each character though.

Seems like you need to get as many levels as you can before the end of each day to be able to do any damage to the boss

I dont think they are lacking for resources.

Im not sure this pulled resources from their other projects either. We don't work there so hard to make any conclusions there.

So can someone explain what a solo experience would look like? I don’t know anything about this

You pick one of the premade characters/heroes, select the Nightlord you want to pursue, and enter the world of Limveld. You start on Day 1 and you have 14 min to run around killing enemies and mini bosses which gives you loot and allows you to level up (you level up like 1, 2, 3, 4, etc., you don't level up specific attributes). A ring of blue fire closes in on the world during the 14 min until it's a small circle on the map and the Nightboss spawns (you take damage if you try to exit the ring as it closes).

If you beat the Nightboss, you move to Day 2. You do the same stuff in the 14 min you have in Day 2. If you beat the Nightboss in Day 2, you move to Day 3, where you're teleported to fight the Nightlord you selected at the beginning.

Win or lose against the Nightlord and you're teleported back to the Roundtable Hold (the central hub in the game) and you start over. You get "Relics" during each run which give you special perks and those can then be equipped at the Roundtable Hold before your next run.

If you beat four different Nightlords, you unlock the final expedition where you fight the final boss in Nightreign.

Basically you just run around the map killing stuff and looting until you get to the last boss of that day. I imagine instead of 3 people you just run it solo. Haven’t done it myself yet

It's literally the same whether you play with 3 players or do it solo. There are some scaling adjustments if you do it solo and it sounds like they'll be making even more adjustments in the upcoming patch.

In watching people play on Twitch, it seems like a lot of players take too much time running around killing stuff before the end of each day so they're extremely underleveled when it comes time to fight the Nightboss. You really need to speedrun each day and kill everything you can to level up. I imagine From is going to increase the amount of time you get each day before fighting the Nightboss.

From what I'm seeing, it's not as simple as just kill XYZ. It's more about hitting specific points of interest with a thought out strategy behind it since you get various passives, chunks of runes, and other rewards. Lot of hauling arse and knowledge of various abilities will go a long way. I can tell this is going to be an incredibly polarizing game, but it appeals to me a little more due to the extra abilities creating some degree of meaningful strategy along with the roguelike build on the fly with co-op.

Yeah, routing is super important. Unfortunately, there's not really enough variety in the game yet to substantially alter your routing each round. I think it'll be a lot of fun for people for a short period of time, but unless they add more maps, more world events, bosses, etc., I think it'll get stale pretty quickly.

ETA: One additional thing to mention is that each character has a personal "Remembrance Quest," which is a side quest focused on their backstory. So that does encourage people to switch up characters and not just play the same one every time.

You can unlock skins from past Souls games for your characters after beating the game too. Looks cool to run around as Artorias, Solaire, Havel, Emerald Herald, etc.

Are they only cosmetic skins, or do they play to those characters strengths?

Only cosmetic and only certain characters can wear certain skins. For example, Wylder can't wear the Emerald Herald skin

Been enjoying it decently well so far. I like the emphasis on boss weakness since it is an actual mechanic interaction usually rather than just pure bonus damage.
Also glad they finally have the talismans showing numbers (although some could still be more detailed). Too bad that in the same game weapons don't have more indepth item details in a run so you can check scaling FromSoft QoL continues to be the monkey's paw.

The character mechanics so far feel pretty good and thought out. I hope they bring a lot of the gameplay concepts forward into future titles since these abilities really help spice up the combat.

No performance problems on pc

Been having a blast with this but I’m pretty much done with it outside of the weekly enhanced bosses. This weekly is a lot easier in comparison to the first one (Adel).

One thing for sure is that playing this a bunch and then trying to play regular Elden ring is a rough swap. The movement and lack of fall damage is so much better in Nightreign

Which character(s) do you run with? I usually roll with Raider, Wylder, or Ironeye depending on how I’m feeling at the time. Executor if I want to be cool but that usually goes poorly lol.
