Us baptists are too judgmental to have a discussion with. Just shout "gay marriage" and we'll be off in the other direction with our pitchforks.

My dad is a southern baptist pastor, and I go to a baptist church now, but that's mainly in name. But the more I talk to him, it kills me how far into that stereotype he has fallen. And a lot of it isn't "I don't believe what you believe", it's "I can't stand the hateful manner in which you address it".

It's actually one of the biggest reasons my wife and I didn't go to church for the first 4 years we were married, and when we did go to church it was a non-denominational church, or Lutheran

I don't want to say hateful, but one of the things our church strongly holds to is "if it's not out of love, don't say or do anything". Most of the time, he comes across as very holier than thou. Hate having those discussions with him anymore.
