I've only watched the first trailer that was released. Not really sure what to expect when I fire it up in a second. The little bit I've read in this thread has helped some.

enjoying it so far. but if you told me I was playing a destiny 1 expansion I'd believe you.
just unlocked titan, so not too far into the story. hoping it does more to prove a new game was worthwhile and it's not just a glorified expansion.

Reached level 7, 71 light, just today. I'm liking it but I still don't have a great grasp of how to progress. I spent all my time in Europe DZ on Earth. I don't feel like I've gotten very far. And I already saw a few level 20s.

What would they had to have to changed to avoid the "glorified expansion" tag? I don't get this comment at all. Why would I want them to change too much from the original? And from everything that's been put out there's a ton to do.

You progress through how powerful your gear is. You won't start getting the real good stuff until you reach level 20. Light level is the only thing that matters once you get to the endgame.

I've only been able to play up until the first hub, but it certainly feels like a new game. "Glorified expansion" is an easy criticism to latch on to, just like calling any game based in space "Halo".

Took me a couple hours to through the beginning and get to guardian level 4. I got confused about using a "track" or "untrack" through the patrol level and wondered around for a while. It's definitely quite a bit different from the first one. Still don't have a great grasp of how to increase XP without daily missions. Maybe that will come later. Nothing really big probably happens until you get to guardian level 20 maybe? I like it so far though. The nostalgia for the first makes it a little weird at first, but I'm sure it will be awesome once you get into a little bit. Also still confused on the difference between power levels and guardian level. Will read up on it.

I haven't played Destiny 1. Is 2 easy enough for me to play and get into without any knowledge from 1?

I definitely agree with the "stick to the formula" mantra but to me this game is an EXTREME case. This game is exactly the same game as Destiny 1 with new areas. In fact, in certain areas (skill tree) it has even taken a step back.
That isn't to say that the game is bad. Destiny 1 was fire (once all the expansions were added at least). But you just kind of expect the game to take some leaps in certain areas while keeping a similar formula.... IMO there should be way more classes, a much larger skill tree, etc., but instead we just got the exact same game with new areas. Even stuff like the character creator is the exact same one from the first one even though people complained about it massively.
I honestly feel like they were rushed to release this and so rather than actually try to build upon Destiny 1 and make an even better experience they just copy pasted everything but made new areas.
Overall I'm definitely enjoying the game, the missions/areas IMO feel a lot better than Destiny 1 (except the Farm sucks compared to the Tower).

Seeing reviews on Amazon that the key they got didn't work. I planned on doing the deluxe digital edition from there. Anyone have that issue?

Completely agree. Once you get more than 1 do a weekly features like they started to do toward the end with 1. Or some kind of take on that.

I didn't see that Amazon offered the pre-order discounts for this game (and none of their games are discounted after release), so if you were going to order digitally anyways, why not just go through the Microsoft or PS stores?

There will be plenty of story and Easter eggs that you won't understand, if that's a problem for you.
