I'll start off by saying I believe we are the smartest collection of gamers on the internet. We can put together a well thought plan to solve Destiny 2's end game issues.

I'll ask we each identify our Destiny experience, number of toons and power level in Destiny 2, and the single most issue with end game and a proposed solution. Offer more if you'd like.

I want to categorize the issues in buckets - social and clan, PvP, loot, token system, end game activities (the raid, strikes, faction rallies, public events), vendors, gear tuning, build diversity, class synergies, and guided games. I'll summarize our thoughts after we can satisfy Carson's expectations of Destiny 2.

So, here goes...

I have no experience with Destiny 1. Only one toon at 302. Running a voidwalker devour build. My main gripe is outside of weekly milestones, there's simply no reason to play once you hit the power level cap. Nothing else feels rewarding. Proposed solutions are as follows:

Social - open up chat channels at least at the social places to coordinate activities with random.

PvP - desperately needs playlist selections and a ranked system. I'm okay with the current ttk, but there's definitely some weapon balancing needed. I feel it should be a blend of pace between CoD and something more tactical. PvP-specific loot would be nice.

Loot - replace tokens with guaranteed activity-specific weapons and armor that drop at your current power level. This gear must offer something different from the vendor gear. There needs to be a way to reroll perks on weapons including turning a legendary into an exotic.

Token system - scrap it. Nothing more dumbed down than just giving tokens for completing end game activities. This system is just asinine.

End game activities - I don't have an answer here other than completing them has to be rewarding and give the player some form of progression. These activities should help the player reach their vision for their toon. The prestige versions need to beef up the rewards in quantity and quality. Why play them to get more of the same you've already scrapped?

Vendors - too many useless ones created by the token system. At least have them offer quests that provide something similar to the proposed end game loot mentioned above.

Gear tuning - weapon types should have a perk pool that randomly populates when you decode an engram. This should provide a little variety. Scrapping the same gear repeatedly should build towards a respec option where you can reroll at least the major perk. I would like to see the ability to modify rate of fire, stability, magazine size, reload speed, etc. on a minor scale.

Guided Games - needs a complete overhaul. I shouldn't have to wait an hour to find a raid group if my clan isn't available. Opening up chat in social spaces could fix the waiting issue. Penalize the guides that bail on the activity. Let the guides rate the random they pick up. Get rid of tickets.

...I think that covers what's been rolling around my head the last couple of weeks. What would it take for you to keep playing Destiny 2?

Bring back random weapon rolls and just move PvP back to year 1 where it was better in every single way than in year two.

I'll say this as someone who played Destiny 1 from release through the last expansion. I got three characters above level 290 and still have yet to run a nightfall or raid on 2. I'll say that as a dad of 3 I don't have as much time anymore as I used to, but one thing that bugged me in 1 that they tried to fix but not very successfully was match making for those. I still to this day don't know why they don't just add straight up MM to it so people can just get in and start experiencing it. I'm tired of them thinking those are such sacred events that you have to have a preplanned team out to do them every time. Who cares if its a train wreck? At least I can get some experience of trying it out quickly.

What's driving this sentiment from the community? I get people are frustrated, but the whole "frick Bungie, frick this game" outrage comes across as a toddler throwing a fit.

I recognize it's shallow, but I think it could be really good with some tweaks. I enjoy the gameplay and will continue to play, albeit much less, if they keep it as is.

I think it still has potential which is why I'm playing it but, they definitely have their work cut out and need to address some of the glaring issues.

The problem with Destiny 2 is that it was simply a product that had to be completed, with MINIMUM requirements, to meet bungie’s Activision contractual obligations...a cash grab with no heart based on D1 code though Bungie denies it.

We were lied to. Deceived.

May Destiny 2 burn in hell.

Agreed.

The state of the game on D1 at the end was a good place. I still loved crucible for the most part and the gameplay was still fun. We were even still running raids for fun and getting shitfaced.

I hate that they dumbed down the space magic as well, especially in crucible.

Like i said earlier, I hate the static gun rolls. Searching for god rolls was annoying until you got the gun you were looking for. I have seen some gun drop reactions that are pure ecstasy, getting a rare gun with a certain roll was one of the most exciting things in the game.

They also need to make exotics, exotic again. They are way too easy to obtain now. No excitement at all.

I agree with everything you said. I have almost 1500 hours playing D1 and right now I would rather play vanilla D1 than D2. Bungie changed so much because people complained about not being about to get everything immediately or having bad K/D's or that it was unfair that some players had better rolls on their guns. What is the point of playing the game if you get everything handed to you?

I may be an outlier but I liked the grind. I liked RNJesus and when I finally got my Gally and Fatebringer and Vision of Confluence I was ecstatic.

I understand that this is a business but based on the fact that D2 was selling for $27 on Black Friday should tell them that they have made a lot of, not only unnecessary but, bad gameplay changes.

Bring back gun rolls, bring back RNJesus, get rid of tokens, and for the love of God bring back the old crucible.

The state of D1 at the end was a joke. Sidearms and more sidearms.

frick bungie, frick this game.

It’s missing so many things that made the original destiny enjoyable. PVP has been watered down for the 85th time to cater to the casual. The game economy is absurd and makes no sense. The end game is idiotic. The armor stats and weapon rolls being locked in are pretty lame and makes for a 4/10 on the customization of your player.

No private matches. No ranked.

It would be one thing if this was Destiny 1 and they were figuring these things out. Unfortunately, Destiny 1 implemented each of those things, except for ranked play, and then didn’t include them in D2 despite their universal praise.
