It's a good forum for gaming info with enough traffic to get varied opinions, and the most important thing is Websense doesn't block it at work.

from what i hear, the biggest problems seem to be the connection and bug issues, I cant wait for daddy to get home to try it!

Update: After one night, I would hold off guys. Looks like this game has taken a hit since the last update. It certainly has the lulz, but its much more difficult than it appears. You run around entirely too long without a weapon, and even when you find one, I wakes the entire zombres population within 12 miles. Gonna give it another go tomorrow

Use a hatchet or crowbar (or even silenced gun if you can find one) in/near towns. Also, before you go into a town, scout out an enterable building with 2 exits that you can use to lose any zombies that chase you.
I played last night, for the first reasonable amount of time in a while. It is tough starting without a weapon. Until I found one, I avoided any medium/large towns in favor of deer stands/barns with only 2-4 zombies around. I aggroed one zombie in an open field, but was able to run to a nearby barn and lose aggro there.
Eventually I found a hatchet and a makarov on a dead guy next to a barn. I figured zombies had gotten him until I spotted 2 guys in the woods nearby. I was starting to run when one of them started dancing at me. They refused to communicate in direct comm, just sat there and danced until I gave up trying and ran away.
This game is a lot of fun even with all the crawling around in towns and cities. About as different from L4D or BF3 as a shooter can be, though.

I had trouble when I first installed. Some error about missing some chernarus file. Had to uninstall and reinstall in this order: Arma2, OA, other expansions.
Also, I had to run Arma 2 before I installed OA, and run OA before I installed the other expansions.

thanks, we struggled awhile with basic controls last night, then made some dumb decisions that left us running for our lives in pitch dark.
What are the runs with day and night? Is it an entire 8 or so hours of darkness? Seemed like it was last night...
Oh, and where you at stout? Lets kick this pig

Day/night cycle is 24hr. Some servers restart every 8 hours so it is always daytime. Most of the ones that don't are on the same time as the server itself. So if you play at night, a lot of the low ping servers will be night time.

It's real time with the servers... if its 8 O'clock at night in real life wherever the server is located, its 8 O'clock at night in the game.
