Cyberpunk is a great game, buried under a complete disaster

It's such a shame, cuz the story has some really great high points that comment on how corporations subvert society and make people's lives a hollow and meaningless experience thanks to products and fandom, tied to the whims of the rich elites and powerful.
I mean the entire "become a legend in night city" is really corporate propoganda, because to do that you have to join in the system of violence and oppression. That really stuck with me.
That being said, the game is a total disaster. Last night I teleported into an unfinished part of the game, a normally unaccessible room....because I used a ladder. There's items in here, but you can't get out.
It's one of many examples of the insane technical fail of this game. It's such a shame. frick the publishers at CD for fricking over their developers who clearly were on their way to making a great game.

One guy on here pointed out how the game was missing some needed side stuff like mini games and character customization like getting a haircut, and I have to think that stuff WOULD have been in the game had they had the time to finish it.

You can really tell it too.
Detailing of cars...awesome. Actual vehicle mechanics? Horrible.
Weapons look awesome. System is meh.
Crafting has a ton of good ideas and lots of potential but its kinda eh.
It really feels like they tried to polish things at the micro level without taking time to work on the bigger picture.

So I have this game. Do I even play it or just trade it in? Everything I’ve read says it’s a mess.

I would return it and rebuy later on sale

frick the publishers for their review embargo and only allowing reviewers to show canned footage, but they had 8 years to make this game.
To me, this is very similar to the Anthem situation. How does a game that has been in development for so long end up feeling so rushed and unfinished?
It shows me that CD Projekt Red lacked a strong creative vision for what this game was going to be from the start.

Holy LOL.
Anthem was just a shitty game by all accounts.
The game definitely has bugs on last gen. I played for about a week on my OG PS4. But it was perfectly playable. Textures would be slow to load, hi action might slow screen down a bit, game would crash maybe once every couple days. But it’s 1000% worth it. Since I moved over to PS5 I’ve literally had no issues whatsoever.
The cool thing is to shite on it right now but it’s an incredible game. By all accounts there’s little to no bugs on next gen. And they’re going to continue to patch and update it into next year. They haven’t even released their actual “next gen update” yet.

Comments like this make me think you haven’t played it. There’s literally an endless supply of things to do and places to explore.

They developed the game for 8 years and still haven't implemented AI pathfinding for the police. When you commit a crime, the cops literally teleport right on top of you and gun you down.

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t 8 years straight.
But irregardless I’ve played on PS5 with zero issues.

This is false but ok

Please tell me about all the issues I’ve had through my own gameplay

Get him out of here, he’s in shock.
It’s impossible for Cyberpunk NOT to crash while playing it.

I'm enjoying it, I've definitely spent $50 in worse ways. Don't get me wrong, the videos of the bugs & glitches out there look horrible. I haven't had anything that crazy happen to me on PS4 pro. Only thing I'd say is that it takes a couple hours to get into it but once I "broke through" I was hooked.

You must have the ultimate god-tier version. Flawless AI and not a single crash or floating object on PS4 or PS5

dog i was playing on a $4k PC with all the latest and greatest shite in it and I quit 3 hours in. the game ran fine at 4k with 60-80 fps and no major crashes, but the game is an unfinished, unpolished mess. NPC AI is shite, world interactivity is shite, police are shite, UI and menus and looting are shite. couldn't complete 2 missions without reloading earlier saves and reattempting objectives. staggering amount of cut content.
is it playable on PC and next gen? sure. but I'm waiting until we get the real shite they wanted to implement - not this patchwork quilt of primitive placeholder AI and clunky bullshite

Same. Minus the $4K PC.. but my PC is decent enough. Got 8 hours in and beat the prologue. Can't refund due to Steam so I'll just shelve it indefinitely.

i have 30 days with GOG but I'm not gonna refund. I'd just buy it again later so there's no point
I usually don't condone this shite but I'm a huge sucker for the cyberpunk genre. hopefully they get it right in a few months

Yes the biggest issues in the game right now aren't technical, it's the fact that so much of it feels half baked.
Pretty much every single gameplay system feels shallow or lacking. You can tell absolutely no time at all has been spent refining any major system int gameplay.
It's clear almost all the time over the past year or so they've been just trying to simply get the game up and running.
It feels more like the framework for a really great game with the actual game sorta mostly missing.

quote:No idea why you're getting downvoted. You're right. I mean you can already get your haircut in Witcher 3. I don't think CDPR just forgot that little tidbit from one game to the next. It's beyond obvious they weren't finished with the mechanics and features of the game.
