This game looks great! Wish there’s an option to switch between third to first person mode just like Fallout.

Agree. I like my RPGs in third person.

But CDPR gave good reasons why it is locked to 1st person. A lot of things they wanted to do with the gameplay just didn't work in 3rd person per CDPR.

Not a fan of first person.

I'm sure they'll pull it off but I think first person view in anything besides shooters or vr sucks.

The melee combat and stealth is sure to suck, first person terrible for those.

Seconded.

I wonder if they will maybe add third-person as DLC down the road, like Rockstar did with GTA.

I wouldn’t count on it but you never know.

Yeah, Rockstar added the first person as an incentive to buy the PS4/XB1 version for those who already had the previous one

Did y'all watch the gameplay? First person seems integral to the game.

I don't get the folks who are fussing about a first person perspective. Have they not ever played Deus Ex or System Shock 2?

I really wasn't too interested in this game initially, but figured I'd check it out because...well...it's CD Projekt.

...and I'm glad I did. That game looks freakin amazing.

Yes this is what they stated during E3. After watching the demo online during that event I had no problem with 1st person only.

I don't think it will be that much longer.
.I say we get it around 2019-early 2020

I could be totally off base But:

CD Projekt Red has been developing Cyberpunk 2077 for the past six years, as you might be able to guess from a look at its impressive gameplay demo. Although the developer has stated that there's more work to be done on the action RPG, the game is already playable from start to finish.

In an interview with Engadget, Cyberpunk 2077 producer Richard Borzymowski said the game still doesn't have all of its assets, and the fixes for the bugs that were discovered in playtesting haven't been implemented yet. However, you can play through the entire game and see the story unfold, which Borzymowski says is important for finishing the game's development. "[Playing through the game] gives you the answers to all of your doubts," he said. "It just feels great."

I think it's going to drop sooner than expected

That interview tells me they are on the final stages

We'll likely see it in mid-late 2020 on next gen consoles with TLOU2. All those other games are coming out way sooner.

What it sounds like is that the game is finished in a sense. They are deciding on where to stop building the world.

Holy cow the crowds are insane.

Just finished the whole video. This is going to be an absolutely insane game. I'm pre-ordering as soon as it's available.

They also said they're in a pre-alpha build. Still lots of work to be done.

It looked interesting. I do think the scale actually ended up looking pretty small. Wasn't a fan of the dialogue or gunplay either. But I'm still excited

Well of course, they clearly decided on first person quite awhile ago and have built the game around it for years at this point. I'm still not a fan of it as I don't think first person lends itself well to a lot of things.

First person perspective does a few things well, it's great for shooting games (and more recently VR games) which is why the first person shooter has become such a staple genre.

However first person is actually pretty terrible for many other gameplay mechanics and styles, which is why you so rarely see first person games outside of shooters.

They insist this is an RPG first and a shooter second, however pretty much all the gameplay we saw in the trailer was just gun battles.

It's clear this is going to be a great game, whatever the heck genre you wanna call it.

I think many people who are disappointed by the first person aspect are convinced that the gameplay will be limited by the decision.
