Those getting the next-gen systems will have to find a different game to occupy their time until then:
Weird twist because I had always thought growing up that going gold meant it's completed and ready to ship. Obviously not the case

I honestly doubt there is going to be any noticeable differences with 21 extra days. If anything just release it as is, and push out patches. That's how most of the industry works now anyways.

they cant get the game to run on pos current gen consoles. they should just declare it incompatible with OG PS4 and Xbox One

Darn. I preordered this on Amazon. Oh well. Rather it be a perfect than a buggy mess in the beginning with day 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 patches.

This is my birthday, hell of a present. 
Also, going gold is a term where they finalized the master image, and it has met all publishing and platform requirements. It will ship with the gold image on disc, and likely have a massive day 0 patch to fix whatever they are working on now.

There is something to be said when a game is delayed over and over again that puts some doubt into your head as to whether or not they can deliver.

I know that but how many games have gone gold and then get delayed after that? Usually going gold meant you're getting it on the release date and that day 0 patch would cover everything and we're set.
I can't recall any major game going gold and then getting delayed. Just weird is all I'm saying
