Console recommendations

I have accumulated a lot of points through a work rewards programs and they can be redeemed for a variety of things.(Kind of like CC rewards points). I could get either a XB1 or PS4. I don't play any games, but the media center aspects of the console are appealing. Which one should I go for?

Xbox one is the answer

I haven't tried it personally, but probably the Xbone. All-in-one media experience is what they were shooting for. Whether or not they pulled that off I have no clue.

Do you watch or even care for blu-ray?

I have both the XB1, and the PS4. Few weeks ago before I had my PS4, I'd have hands down recommended the XB1. It has more of a media center look and feel, but navigating the XB1 UI...the performance is absolute dog shite compared to the PS4.
That said, PS4 doesn't have WatchESPN app, so if that's important to you, go XB1. If WatchESPN isn't a big deal, I'd say PS4.

I have both. My Xbone collects dust.
The media center aspect and voice command aspect would be about the only reasons to go with the Xbox One IMO, which I have no real use for.
PS4 has and will most likely continue to have better exclusive games if that interests you. I obviously cannot predict the future, but I am going off current and past trends.
PS4 UI is basic but works. Xbox One UI is clunky and slow, even after the latest update.
Although the 360 controller was one of the best ever, the Xbone controller feels clunky but cheap. The PS4 controller is more comfortable IMO and a lot more solid.

Also, maybe someone can speak on the PS4 media remote (I don't have it), but I have the XB1 media remote and it is also an absolute piece of shite. I feel like I have to use a hydraulic press in order to register a button press on that piece of shite remote. Not sure if it's the remote's fault, or the sluggish XB1 OS.
This is the one I have btw:

I've got the same remote without those issues. It's a must have imo
Worst thing about it is how it lights up every time it's tapped

Between the media center capabilities, backward compatible with old 360 games, the superior controller, and PC ecosystem integration, the clear choice is the xbox one for the OP
Only pansies prefer the PSlame

It is easier to find your way around after the update, but it is far from quick and responsive.
ETA:
Sounds like I am not the only one having this problem.

I've only had my Xbone since December, but I also have had no issues with the UI.

Jesus Christ dude are you paid to shill for Xbox?

Nah I had/have issue with the UI on my Xbox. I changed the batteries in my controller and seemed to fix it. I don't use the Xbox enough to know the UI as well as I should though. I play games on the PS4 and the Xbox is in the living room. The Kinect is amazing and I wouldn't own an XB1 without it.
For the OP, it's probably better to get an XB1. It seems to play certain torrents when my PS4 will give me an error. That damn .mkv format is hit and miss.

This board does seem to favor Xbox. Either that or Xbox fans scream loudest.
I have both and would only ever play a third party title on it unless it was cheaper or unless my friends were playing on it. Xbox One does have better exclusives in the present, but the PS4 is gaining ground quickly with Street Fighter V, Ratchet and Clank, and soon Uncharted 4.
