It’s really my only complaint about an otherwise fantastic game.

I think it's the GotY, but I also think it's overrated by a lot of people. I won't go into all my gripes because this is the No Spoiler thread, but I will say I think it sucks that the devs didn't add any of the major QoL features requested by gamers after launch.

I appreciate it can be difficult to do that, but as an example, the devs for Khazan have released several patches for the game since launch that have added QoL features that make the game much more enjoyable to play.

I’m used to the ludonarrative dissonance of a game pushing you forward when it’s actually better to help every old woman find her cat; what I’m less used to is how… irksome? Doing so would be. Not allowing fast travel between regions heavily disincentives backtracking unless it’s to go get a specific item, which I’m trying to avoid delving into.

Started my playthrough, accidentally, with the DB "go up" and the Esoteric. So... made myself motion sick and will need to put it down for a while

Ok, so I know gunslinger Verso is the meta, but I’m enjoying the frick out of a melee based glass canon “frick it, I’m immortal: one HP and a dream, baby!” Verso

Not without its flaws, but an absolutely beautiful game (make sure you have sound/music on) that I’m having a lot of fun with. Try really hard to avoid spoilers. We’re happy to help in any way we can to keep you out of the wikis

Ya, the music is amazing. I have it on easy mode because I care more for the story than the combat. I've got Maelle far enough along now that she's wrecking shite.

Are you looking to play entirely blind, or do you want nudges towards not missing certain items?

Nah, I'm using IGN's page (carefully) to make sure I don't miss any optional bosses, mimes, etc.

I usually thoroughly explore an area, and before I leave, check the IGN page to make sure I didn't miss anything. Using it and a couple other sites for builds as well.

Oh, and frick that jumping puzzle on the first Gestral Beach.

Obviously play as you will, but I wouldn’t suggest that for a first play through, especially on story mode. What I ultimately decided to do was to play through once, mostly avoiding side content unless I stumbled onto it, on Expedition. Then, I’m going to replay on expert (or whatever it’s called) to do all the side content. That way, I avoid spoilers, don’t burn myself out, and get the “optional” content at a harder difficulty, but after I’ve gotten more comfortable with the game.

If you’re playing on story, just play the story, in my opinion.

If you read up a few posts, that’s what I was bitching about with my only up post. And to add insult to injury, the reward is funny, but dogshit

Yeah.

I read that the girl who wrote this story was a banker, and this is the first game she has written

This game, while not without it's flaws, is such an incredible achievement

So, I've been moving through the game at a quick clip on Expedition, but y'all, the final boss is kinda hard

First time in the game that I thought "yeah, I'm going to take a break for a bit, because my nerves are a bit shot, and I'm currently not close to good enough at parrying their attacks to make a legit run".

Took them down by just straight overpowering them and hitting enough parries to avoid a TPK.

That fight is going to be a bitch when I come back around on Expert

Simon or the paintress?

The paintress was easy, but Simon is a certified motherfricker

When you say final boss you mean that as in.. act 3, correct?

As I mentioned earlier it’s very easy to over-level as (unless they changed it in a patch) there’s no scaling. If you ran straight through the story without doing any side content I’d expect it to be difficult. If you do it after clearing most of the optional dungeons it might be a lot easier, even on expert.

Of course you can handicap yourself if you just want the challenge.

ETA: If he meant Simon that’s a whole different ball game. He’s the actual final boss for sure.

I was intentionally vague being this is the no spoiler thread, but I meant the last big boss before the credits roll.

And I intentionally didn’t over level. As soon as Act 3 opened up, I raced straight to the end game.

At some point, I’m going to fire up a completions Expert run.

I was level 95 before i fought the end credits boss so it was an absolute joke lol. As somebody earlier in the thread said i kinda wish i would have done that first before doing all the end game side stuff so it would have been more climactic of an ending

I was right around 55. My entire squad was also nothing but glass canons, so that didn't help in dealing with learning their 5+ move combos
