Yep. The RMAH was indeed terrible for the game but it became the lone scapegoat. D3 was lacking many important features and aspects that made D2 (and games like Path of Exile) so fun.

getting rid of the RMAH was awesome. getting rid of all trading was not. it's not a bad game now but unfortunately it took them way too long to get there

Sounds like it's most likely the next Blizzard Classic game, either D1 or D2 remaster. Full sequel after that but aways away.

I loved D2.
I didn't like D3 that much, and I still clocked 500 hrs on that bitch. From day one to the first expansion to the rifts then I quit.
A D2 remaster will probably frick up the economy at this point.
