yes, you read that right. Diablo 2

LINK

?? What Reign of the Warlock Is

A major expansion/update for Diablo II: Resurrected that adds lots of new content, including the first new class the game has seen in decades: the Warlock.

????? Warlock Class

The Warlock is a master of forbidden arts, combining demon control, eldritch enhancements, and chaotic magic.

Three distinct skill trees:

Eldritch — enhances weapons, manipulates enemy minds, weapon telekinesis, curses.

Demon — summon demons like Goatmen, Tainted, Defilers; bind or consume demons for effects.

Chaos — fire and entropy-based chaos spells with area effects.

??? New Items & Features

Adds 30+ new items (Uniques, Sets, Runewords, and new “Book” items for Warlocks).

White daggers now can roll Warlock skills, opening new build possibilities.

?? Quality of Life Improvements

Stackable stash tabs for gems, materials, and runes (up to 99 each).

Loot filters so you can focus on valuable items.

The Chronicle: an in-game tracker that tracks all items you’ve found (like a “holy grail” completion tool).

?? Endgame Enhancements

Reworked Terror Zones: more frequent changes, affixes on monsters, and better control.

Heralds spawn in Terror Zones with special drops like Latent Sunder Charms.

A new Uber Ancients fight (requires collecting statues and combining them).

?? Other Notes

The expansion continues to evolve the game with future balance and item improvements hinted at.

In short, Reign of the Warlock is a big update that adds a new class, a bunch of quality-of-life tools, new items, and expanded endgame challenges to Diablo II: Resurrected — modernizing the experience while maintaining classic LOD mechanics.

Pretty cool. I had already saw leaks about the warlock being added to Diablo 4 but I never would have guessed that they were adding him to Diablo 2 as well.

Being able to control or consume enemy mobs for abilities/buffs sounds like a cool mechanic if it’s executed well.

Yeah, they did say the Warlock in D4 is much stronger.
quote:

While the Warlock in Diablo 2: Resurrected is a very capable summoner of Hell’s forces, its appearance in Diablo 4 will see the class “at the height of strength,” Blizzard says. The Warlock will command demons and hellfire’s destructive power, turning the wrath of Hell against itself, when Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred launches on April 28.

Blizzard promises to reveal more details about the Warlock in Diablo 4 during a Developer Update on March 5 at 2 p.m. PST / 5 p.m. EST.

Gotta admit, this was not on my bingo card. That is quite a shadow drop.

Got into act 3 last night with a warlock. The quality of life stuff is awesome. I'm doing a fire warlock and while squishy, does a decent amount of damage. Worth the 25 bucks. They have also alluded if this sells well they're going to keep adding more and tweaking things.

Made the purchase last night but didn't get the update on PS5. Is there anything I need to do?

You might have to update or select expansion in the character selection page.

The other thing that kinda sucks is the ladder starts in 8 days so everything we're doing now goes away but it's good to remember how to play too

I tried playing this on my OG Xbox 1 and took 30 seconds to load into each act. I might need to pull the trigger on a new system to play this.

I used to d2jsp for weeks before the remake. Is that still alive and well?

been playing around with some randos and leveling a warlock.

I've noticed that the fire mages are far and away the highest damage dealers. at least initially.

I had started off as a summoner/eldrich build. After being dead weight for about 25 levels or so, I used a respec to copy the fire mage builds I was noticing. I quickly surged to mid 40's. I've recently added some summon skills and I have started binding high level unique enemies. the bound summons seem much more helpful (offensively and defensively) than the initial options that you can generate at will.

Overall, after some tweaks, I'm enjoying the new class.

That’s awesome, but I can’t let myself get back into it. Got a lvl99 Paladin with Grief and Fortitude, Herald of Zakarum etc, could easily solo Uber Tristram/DClone.

Never again unless I break a leg or something.

I have this on the Switch and tried mightily to get into it. I loved D3 on the PS4.

I failed in the attempt.

I love D2R. I wish there were more players playing though. Its so much more fun when there are tons of games to go through the campaign with and finding baal runs always a good way to spend time. Trading is easier and dont have to worry as much as you used to back in the day about scammers! boy that was always an adventure.

When D2R first came out it was amazing and player base was strong but the last time i played there were hardly any games and that makes the grind much much much slower.

Blizzards problem is they still think their old games are worth today's prices.
