That was one of the best trailers for a game I've seen in the last 10 years, regardless of how the actual game turns out.
Good to see a game finally show WWI. It's the forgotten war, especially since in American and European history it gets completely overshadowed by WWII.

It's forgotten in the United States but is hardly an afterthought in Europe. That war is still very much a part of their culture and their history.

Will probably suck but looks interesting

I'm just interested in how the multiplayer is received by the masses. Because most of the weapons from World War I were bolt action, emphasis is most likely going to be placed on teamwork. The game will become less about kills and more about accomplishing the mission. There may be a lot of people who are disappointed by that.

I highly doubt this will be the case, IMO

I think you're going to end up being wrong. If you have played the online multiplayer game Verdun you will know what I am talking about. That game is more objective-based and your K-D ratio always sucks due to the high casualty rates in No-Man's-Land. It's more difficult to do what you do in Modern Warfare when you are limited to a 5-10 shot bolt action rifle.

I have not, but that interests me. I wouldn't mind this, as I always PTFO. I also love bolt-action rifles. I just don't think it appeals to the masses and I personally think BF will go a different direction.

Looks like DICE pulled me back in after the shite launch of BF4, hopefully they don't disappoint this time.

I haven't even thought about the weapons. This is going to be a fantastic game

The developers have said they are going to stay true to history.
The only automatic rifle available to soldiers in the First World War was the BAR and that didn't hit the battlefield until two months before the war ended. All other machine guns required a two-man crew to operate it and could not be fired from the hip.

I'd just be careful about fapping over a pre-rendered trailer. I'm excited, but I'll wait to see some actual game play before I get back into a FPS shooter.
EA has a lot to prove to me.

Agreed. I haven't read this whole thread but it seems like these guys knew that people wanted COD to go back to it's roots. They went ahead and beat them to it. If they do this right they can take a lot of the market share. I just hope they give me campaign worth a damn.

Launch was terrible, but BF4 really is a great game now, at least on PC.

That's just not true. Check out this thread over on Reddit about WWI weapons that could be in Battlefield
