Assassins Creed: Valhalla…where’s the story?

I’ll preface this by saying I haven’t played AC games in forever. It wasn’t much when I did.
I don’t know if I took a wrong turn somewhere or what. But my only quests are:
Build up the settlement
Kill folks from the order tree
Do side jobs for that dude at my camp
Do raids (all higher than I can do)
All I’ve been doing is going around synchronizing as much as I can. And I’m to the point where I’m at level 43 and everyone on the tree available is 90 or higher and the lands I need to get to and conquer are that or higher too.
I mean is there really not any “story guiding” in this? Is it literally just grind, kill off a guy, then go to the next one? Something just feels like it’s missing.

It got so repetitive to me. I played for 20-30 hours and just lost total interest

That’s pretty much what happened. I tried to get back into playing today and lasted like 20 mins.

Have you started any alliance quests? I was stuck for awhile. You have 2 to begin and after completing both another one opens up. Then you can rank up. Also around level 90 you can drink a potion from that gypsy woman. When you drink the potion, you go to Asgard.

You have to go talk to Sigurds wife in the main hall in the settlement. She gives you a choice of who to align with and that’s when the sons of Ragnar quest starts. I got about 60 hours in and realized I still wasn’t even halfway done so decided to put it down and move on to something else, I really enjoyed it though and plan on coming back sometime down the line

I downloaded AC4 recently and started playing again. I miss the polish of the new games, but AC4's story and naval battles are awesome.

I downloaded AC: The Ezio collection. That’s AC2, AC: Brotherhood, and AC: Revelations. A ton of fun on Xbox Series X

I have a feeling that this "groundbreaking" open-world Star Wars game Ubisoft is working on will just be Assassin's Creed, Jedi Edition.
Which means I will also get bored 15-20 hours in and quit.

I enjoy this game but Odyssey for me was the best. I loved the main story. The side quests. The DLC. Enjoyed fighting for Sparta or Athens and changing the dominant side.
Valhalla is time consuming getting the abilities and ranking up. Not a fan of the raids.

I enjoy Valhalla a lot.
I typically will accept an "alliance mission" and while in that area completely clear it as far as treasures and secrets.
Honestly there is nothing left in the game hard for me because I killed all the witches, beat Asgard, beat jotunheim, beat all the beasts, beat all the zealots....
at this point im so strong that im just grinding to the end

I'm working my way up the Assassin's Creed list. Played the Ezio games so many times that I started on AC:3 Remastered.
Connor still has the social skills of a brick, but the gameplay is much better than I remember. His social skills fit a little better if you keep him in his tribal outfit the whole game and never wear Assassin robes. What really pissed me off is that I'm stuck at 99% completion because of those damn delivery missions that won't show up.
Put that one down and on to AC:Liberation. It's fun and the protagonist is Oscar worthy compared to Connor. Though my biggest gripe is when did the swamps around New Orleans get so hilly? Still, it's currently fun running around killing gators and stealing their eggs or taking out troops Spanish colonial soldiers.

At the time I wasn't able to platinum 4 because it required online trophies and the online community and the online games were absolute trash.

Story really sucked imo compared to Odyssey. Hell. I dumped 200+ hours into two Odyssey plays. I doubt I’ll ever play Valhalla again. Heck. I’ve yet to complete the main story line.
Reward incentives suck.

Oddysey was so fun because you were getting new weapons every 10 minutes so you got to experiment with all the different types. For Valhalla you literally have the same weapons all game.

At least Odyssey had Mercs that could merc your arse even at higher levels unless you maxed out the Assassin build. I loved a ring of like five of them to make things interesting.
This game did indeed become painfully easy with dual spears and an upgraded quick shot bow.
No mythic beasts or anything.

Most disappointing game to me since the God of War reboot. How do you frick up Vikings?
ETA: Actually, with all the soy and femmes in gaming now, it’s not a surprise they frick up an alpha culture.
