No, this one will be different because you can switch between the characters during the story. Sounds like you won’t even have to play as the samurai other than a couple character specific missions.

I clapped when Yasuke said “Look at me, I’m the captain now”.

they’ve always been woke but made pretty good games.

They've also managed to be pretty historically accurate. I love the historical modes where you can walk around the setting they've built and learn historical facts.

This obvious DEI move is sad and pathetic.

Have you played any of the games in the last 8-10 years? Honest question.

Given that Rogue was released in 2014, this is actually an extremely stupid question to ask. It would be difficult to find a gamer who hasn't played any of the games in this series in the past 10 years.

On top of that, they didn't start adding the historical "walk around" modes (Discovery Mode?) to the games until Origins, so the very post you responded to should have told you I have played these games within the past 8-10 years. Your question actually makes it seem like you yourself haven't been playing the games.

I also stated the quote below on the previous page of this thread:

quote:

I have purchased a physical copy of every mainline Assassin's Creed game.

I guess I should clarify that I have not played Mirage yet, but have played literally every other AC game in the series and own a physical copy of every main series entry other than Mirage. Haven't decided yet if I want that game as I wasn't a huge fan of the main character's arc in Valhalla. The AC storyline has gone downhill since AC 3.

Well it’s not like any of the games have been historically accurate since pre Origins so I don’t get what your complaint is. I was playing Valhalla last night riding around on a giant wolf as a character that talks to Odin lol. I agree that exploring the historical setting is cool but don’t see why that would be any different with Japan. Obviously they picked the black guy because of DEI but I don’t get the historical accuracy talking point.

The main storylines have never been historically accurate, but actual historical figures have very rarely been taken out of the historical context.

If you played through the games, this actually fits in with the AC storyline and the whole "precursor" thing. This would be one of those things where it makes sense with the overall narrative of the games.

I have platinum-ed 3, 4, Origins, and Odyssey

Got about 80% done with Valhalla and bailed. Game was complete shite.

Never played Mirage.

Was excited when I initially heard about Japanese AC. . .heard Sweet Baby Inc was involved, got un-excited.

Saw they chose Yasuke, and just giggled to myself. . .because that is obviously what SBI is going to do.

Dollars to doughnuts the chick ninja is trans or gay.

The complaint is that every AC protagonist has been a person from the heritage that the game takes place.

Altair - Syrian
Ezio - Italian
Connor - Native American
Edward - British Colonist
Arno - French
Jacob - British
Bayek - Egyptian
Alexios - Greek
Eivor - Viking
Basim - Iraqi

Then we have Shadows. Yasuke, not from Japanese heritage and heavily questioned if he was actually a samurai and not just basically a novelty. People are going to make the argument that "they're just trying something different!"

I think we all know that's not the case.

I really enjoyed Valhalla but they really jumped off the rails at the end of the game.

Makes it pretty clear that they don't have a clue how to proceed without Desmond.

they have always had historic inaccuracies to fit the narrative they want to tell. Pretty sure Davinci didn't invent war machines to help an Italian assassin.

The move to have a black character in this game is an obvious DEI ploy, especially after learning the dumbasses of sweet baby were involved. I will not defend that, but we've seen far worse examples of it in games and movies. The character is based of a historical character that they bend the truth to fit the story, like they've done with almost every AC game.

i do like seeing ubisoft shoot themselves in the foot though. "lets be more diverse, by making what would have already been a minority character a different minority, and completely insult one of our biggest selling markets". Genius.

The first main protagonist based on a historical figure. . .and it is a black guy in Japan?

Seems almost intentional.

they could have easily kept the Yasuke character and painted him in the light of a hero, by using him as a set piece/side quest/side kick/etc

This is absolutely what they should have done. Could have worked quite well given who the actual historical figure was and the access he was surely able to maintain for the short period of time he was in Japan.

Seems? Ubisoft took their dick out of the pants and slapped you with it, expecting you to suck that DEI cock.

The consumer isn't the point anymore. The ESG dollars are.

Dude even you have to admit it’s odd to have the game set in Japan finally only to make the main character not Japanese
