Assassins Creed Series, Worth my time and $$$

have not played any of them ever, would it be worth my time to get into the series? i know there are a bunch... do i have to play them all to understand the story, or can i skip any?

I'd skip one. The series takes a huge leap in playability with the second one and the subsequent games build on that.

It's worth it to play every one of them because they all follow the same story with the same characters. Just blaze through the 1st one, but all the others are pretty good.

I like AC. My problem is I find myself not really completing the storyline and just parkouring around town and ninja assassining people

I would play the first one just so you can get the WTF moment at the end.
Solid series overall, really enjoy the storyline. AC3 looks like it will be amazing.

I played a few missions of the first one and wasn't impressed. I was encouraged to play 2 and it was one of the better gaming experiences I've had in a while. Brotherhood seems to be the same game as 2, but I just haven't been able to sink my teeth into it.

I'd play them all in order... the gameplay isn't storyline dependent, but it's actually a pretty cool concept/plot.
