Article by Tim Sweeney in 2016, co-found of Epic Games, did not age well.

Guardian article
He essentially is advocating against the Microsoft Store from having exclusive games that can't be on Steam or other distribution platforms. Now he has his own platform with exclusive games, not even 3 years later.

I'm guessing there is a lawsuit coming from the people that pre ordered a hard copy expecting a steam key but will get an epic key.

The success of Fortnite opened up a LOT of opportunities for Epic. I'm not going to fault a company for trying to make as much money as possible.

I thought they said they were honoring all steam pre-orders?

They are, I am talking box sales.

It still would come packaged with a steam code, though.
And who buys hard copies of PC games anymore?

From what I have read all box copies will require epic.
Not sure but there seem to be quite a few.
I don't think this will be a big win for Epic between the steam order that have to be honored and they people like me that will not buy it.
They are taking a smaller cut and selling it at a discount.

I think the only messed up bit about it is how late in the game they made this decision. So strange to do it this close to launch.

The late announcement and the shite launcher. Who doesn't cloud saves these days?

I can't wait to play Exodus
All these "Epic bad" posts are basically viral marketing for the game. Metro is on the front page of here and reddit every day.
Great job by 4A and deep silver imo.
