I just bought Cities: Skylines Deluxe for $10 since it's on sale in the Paradox store.

Let us know if you like it. I have a borderline obsession with that game.

One thing I found interesting:

I have to purposefully build ghettos. Eventually. Everytime.

If you allow eveyone access to education they all want the blue business jobs and you run into an industry labor shortage. They won't take the industry jobs they'll just clamor for more business jobs.

So I always build sects of the city with no access to education but strong police presence with highways that lead straight in and out of the industry sector, and it solved the problem.

I like to wait until the community is settled and then build a giant interstate expansion through the middle of it

I wanna see this. This is only PC, right? I guess it is too hard to play those games on a console with a controller.

Cities Skylines with mods is easily the greatest city and transportation simulator ever.

So, I think this thread started off weird...

There's no such thing as pure strategy...strategy is a style that can be the launching point of a game.

Turn-based strategy
Realtime strategy
etc.

And yes, there are always these games.

Any of these are fine with me. The distinction is a game where you have to figure out and execute a strategy, vs. Just following a set path laid out by the developers.

All this talk about skylines has me planning to buy this game next.

I may not even give my ghettos police protection. Whoever makes it out alive deserves the job at the factory.

Checking back in here.

Cities Skylines was a great recommendation and I "beat" it already. Wish it would have had more goals with population growth. Got my city up to 150k and had all the monuments unlocked by then.

Started Kerbal Space Program yesterday. Very complex game, at least in the beginning. But it looks like it's going to turn out to be an awesome game. I like the difficulty. Too many games these days are easy. Kerbal is old school difficult and creative.
