I haven't spent a dime and I've opened 5 different legendary items and gotten enough currency to buy another one on top of the multiple blues and purples I've gotten and I'm only level 28. It's not that bad.

Odds are strongly against that and that's good for you. But you are getting to the point where you won't get many more free packs and that will now cost you 30 dollars for that yield. And with the odds you will only get 1 legendary.
Like I have said before I don't mind it because the base game is free and you can earn the Legends so far. But in no way is it worth it to buy them. 60 bucks has gotten me 2 decent legendary items but for characters I won't use. A number of banners and banner poses.

Is there a list of TD people playing? I've been on PC and I've played enough without anyone I know.

Meh it won't cost you $30. I've spent $10 and just out of that I got 4 legendary's and an epic. After level 30 you get a pack every other level instead of every level. It really isn't that hard to get a lot of unlocks.

That would be extremely lucky. You do get that Legendary is gold right? Epic is the purple.

I already addressed this. You can get 45 max free packs. That is it.
1-20 = free pack every level. 20 packs
20-50 = free pack every other level. 15 packs
50-100 = free pack every 5. 10 packs.
They are using the classic drug dealer gate move here.

Correct.
They are supposed to be doing a battle pass next month that is rumored to have apex packs which should up the numbers a bit.
I have not bought a pack and have pulled 2-3 legendary character skins as well as 2 legendary weapon skins strictly from the level packs.

So I suck royally at the game, but I'm still having a good time. One tip I got was to lower my mouse sensitivity, and that did help a lot. Instead of averaging 0-10 damage a round I'm now averaging 1 kill every round or so, which is a huge improvement for my gameplay.
I do love playing with a full team, but by far the farthest I get on a regular basis is when I'm solo and play like a sneaky sneak.
