I broke down and preordered it after playing the open beta over the weekend.

Tried it and just don't think I have the stomach for MMO's anymore.

i hear ya. i'd probably pass if i didn't have a group of people i know playing

Yeah, I'll be playing it.
I'm a big fan of just changing up your "role" by using a different weapon and then leveling that up.

I did both betas and it’s fairly satisfying despite running below average on my laptop. I just like that it’s one time fee to play- for now.

i was impressed with how fluid the combat was. it's not your typical mmo style with that, which I like

I don't think my computer can run it

I'm not. It looks interesting, but with the new Final Fantasy XIV expansion dropping in November, I'm not going to start up something that I'll drop a month later.

Same. I might give it a shot after I get through the Endwalker MSQ.

I might wait on it, people are posting that there are 2-3 hour server wait queues.

I'm shocked this thread is only 1 page.

part of the problem is no one can login apparently they capped the servers at 2k yesterday. i was 8500 in the queue by the time i could play last night

Have you played it?
I had one friend start it up after the servers stabilized some last night. It seemed decent.

No. I'm concerned because I think I only meet the min requirements. Is it hardware intensive as it sounds?
I read queue times were over 2 hours yesterday.

If you have hardware concerns, then I'd definitely hold back because the server issues are already hard enough to deal with for most.

Looks like a crafting gathering survival turned MMO. Seems to lack substance.

Just like every other MMO launch. It's fun. I'm semi addicted already. Just pick a server with no wait.

Yep I have been playing it way too much lately. I've always been a neckbeard MMO guy, but as I get older it is harder and harder to grind them out. It really takes a toll on this old man.
Pros:
1) The leveling experience is kinda fun. Yes, it's a grind, but I find the mobs and quests to be decently engaging. (I have done no dungeons yet, so can't comment).
2) Game runs well. I expected nothing less from Amazon's servers.
3) I really like the combat system and the "no class" action combat. Seems a lot of MMO's are migrating away from A) tab targeting and B) class systems. It makes much more sense to let someone level a weapon than have to reroll another character.
4) The world looks nice. I have little issue with the environment.
5) Gathering and crafting system is pretty good.
6) A lot of world PvP with the ability to declare war on other factions to take territory. (No battlegrounds or instanced PvP yet).
7) It's Amazon. You know they aren't some struggling indie developer and will always be there as long as players are.
Cons:
1) No mounts, but Amazon did this intentionally I think. You have to run everywhere.
2) While I did say I enjoyed the questing, it is a grind. One of the slower leveling experiences I've had in an MMO. It's not Korean level grinding, but bad for an American title.
3) The housing is instanced. I wish every MMO would simply copy Archeage and give us open world housing. It's awesome. Once you play Archeage you will always be dissatisfied with housing in other MMO's.
4) No mini map. I get really sick of pressing "M" for the map. I suck with directions so I am always in the map.
5) You can turn your PvP flag off. I get it, some people are carebears and hate PvP. A simple way to solve this is to roll out PvP only servers and let the PvE people have their own servers. As it stands, you can simply keep your PvP flag turned off and NEVER engage another human in battle. I am not a fan of that. Since some people are vocal about hating PvP, Amazon had to make a business decision I guess.
Bottom line: Is it worth $40? I think definitely yes. Especially if they keep the "buy to play" model and don't go crazy with "cash shop" items and what not. Again, considering it's mega corporation Amazon, I don't see them going nuts with gating shite behind a paywall. I think they'll keep their promise here.
