Whatever the internal half cover calculations are, they might as well be a +50% alien hit chance on commander and above

I think the other big difference is "at range". Half cover is probably a reasonable choice at long range for the enemy weapon. Other than that, it's self-delusion.

All that being said, I'm shocked there hasn't been a XCOM3 or at least an announcement.

Probably more likely they reboot the series again at this point. And no, we're not going to talk about the DEI XCOM game they published after XCOM2

Main thing I know for sure is that no cover means a high likelihood of a critical hit in addition to wearing a giant sign reading “Shoot me!”

Just bought xcom2 (assuming that game is what is being discussed) for around $6 due to the steam spring sale. 95% off, inculdes some dlcs.

Thanks everyone for tips, going play it tonight

How are you liking it? I've found it to be incredibly addicting. I sit down to play for an hour and next thing I know, 4 hours have passed

I've barely moved the story along but have taken out 2 of the 3 Chosen and 1 Alien Ruler. The tips in this thread and on the subreddit have been extremely helpful. The only thing that really bugs me is that there are constant events/missions popping up. Like, I have 3 days left on a Proving Ground project, but I can't just advance time to finish the project because new urgent missions/events pop-up nonstop

Good call

Beat vanilla XCOM 2 on console right after it came out. Bought it for PC for modding. Put 1500 hours into The Long War 2 campaign mod + prob 100+ other mods.

Realized I never played vanilla WotC DLC campaign. Bought it again on IOS and beat vanilla WOTC earlier this year for the first time.

Easily the most time I've ever put into a game

I keep trying every 6 months or so to get through an Ironman on Commander in WOTC. Keep getting wiped when that bitch finally tracks down the Avenger. Then, I'll slam my mouse down and not play again for another 6 months.

I think Firaxis is kind of defunct now. Could be wrong. We did get Phoenix Point a few years back.

Oh man one of the best gaming series ever. I played the hell out of the originals - Enemy Unknown and Terror From the Deep. I still get PTSD when I think about searching a cruise ship looking for that last sectoid hiding out!!

Xcom1 and 2 are such great games especially with all the mods out now. And they're always on sale on Steam!

Those stages were miserable, doubly so because they were two stage affairs and you lose anything you salvaged on the deck of the ship.

Well, the only thing I will say is - it was fun and goofy, but not really XCOM.

They dropped a new game (Civ7) just a few months ago.

I just remember a few years back when the CEO and the Head of Development stepped down and they laid off a bunch of employees. I always forget they are involved in Civ games.

Yeah you weren’t totally off base.

Especially with how lukewarm the fan response to civ7 has been. But they aren’t dead yet.

FYI - Humble has a complete XCom bundle up.

Everything from the old games like Enemy Unknown and Terror From The Deep to XCom 2 with all the expansions to Chimera Squad and The Bureau.

Lotta quality stuff plus some additional shite for free.
