Really enjoyed Fallout 4, one of the few games I finished and the only game I played through multiple times.

I think the key for me was the settlement building. You could chew through missions or explore, but you can also just chill and work on building your empire.

I read Fallout 76 was dumpster fire.

So any rpgs with a settlement building type feature?

Thanks!

I don't have any experience with it but I've heard Fallout 76 is a much improved game now. You may want to check it out.

i loved this too, but it seems the closest thing to this are survival games. The Forest has a pretty cool base building system.

but from what ive found, there isnt really anything out there quite like FO4.

Bioshock games are the same, as far as the side missions/things to explore. You have your main objectives, but there's sooooo much you can explore. Not only that, but the plasmids and the way you use them on Bioshock is limitless.

I've completed Bioshock and Bioshock 2, and I know I'm late to the show, but I'm now playing Bioshock Infinite.

The original Bioshock is one of the best games ever. I don't remember much about B2 because I was sort of forcing my way through it. I should have slowed down and taken multiple days to finish it.

Infinite is damn good. I don't know how far I am into the game. I just saved Elizabeth when she was apprehended by the Columbia police. I don't know where that puts me in finishing the game. I'm playing it to where I'm exploring everything and if I start to get zoned out, I come to a save point and will pick it up later.

I just did another playthrough focusing mostly on settlement building. I had a lot of fun with that aspect. Its kind of depressing how much time I spent arranging things on shelves.

it still is, the only good thing about FO 76, are the creatures they created for the game. Nailz on that, rest is crap.

I just laugh everytime i'm on and see all the bugs, breaks, etc.

70% of the time when i do one quest(back on the beat), it crashes.

Today i was on, and all the creatures were moon walking backwards at high rates of speeds. Then there was this broken arse black texture, that was no where near anything burning.

And there is ZERO point of levelling up, it does nothing for you once you max out the perk points, and you cant max them all out, you only get so many points to use.

FO76 is just a bad game, and i play it every other day to kill time

I will say Infinite is another of the few games I finished. The story is just so good.

And the FPS (without a role play level up component) is usually not my cup of tea.

Anyone here play Stardew Valley? How does that compare as a settlement building sim? Obviously the Fallout universe is more interesting to explore but I wonder if Stardew Valley might scratch that settlement building itch.

Give State of Decay 2 a try. It’s a survival game (zombies) and there is some base modification. If you have game pass on Xbox it’s free. It’s a game I enjoy and will play through every couple months.

Infinite is by far my favorite Bioshock game. I thought the first one was decent and 2 was okay, but Infinite just took it to another level. One of my top five all time games.

Have you tried Subnautica yet? It's a story-driven first person survival game where your spaceship crashes on an alien world and you need to explore, collect resources, and build underwater bases and equipment to survive.

I love Stardew Valley and think it's a great game, but it's very different than Fallout in both tone and presentation. Having said that, there is something fun and charming about taming a plot of land, building the most efficient farm, and getting to know the towns people. It might scratch the same itch for you.

Fallout 76 has gotten way better since launch. It's almost not even the same game.

Same. You can't build settlements in 76 but you can build up your camp pretty much anywhere on the map. Makes it fun to move it around to different locations.

Playing Half Life 2 right now. Skipped it as straight FPS is not my thing, but first hour was pretty good.

Heard lots of good things about Stardew valley. That might be next.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

If you end up enjoying HL2, give Black Mesa a shot. It's HL1 remade with more modern graphics. I'm doing a replay through all of the HL games before playing through HL: Alyx, and Black Mesa is pretty awesome.

Don't listen to the 76 haters. I held off getting it the first year. I started last spring and haven't stopped playing since. Its really came around, and the building is fantastic especially with the addition of Vault shelters. They are adding more and more stuff. If you like fallout 4 there is nothing more close than 76. Get it.

Stardew valley basically is a settlement building sim. Except your settlement is a farm. Like a modern harvest moon. It's pretty easy to get sucked into.
