I miss Tribes. That shite was so fun. Skiing and bouncing around the map like a madman.

I'm told Novakin and Jetball are things if you like other jetpack games. I won't derail the thread anymore

Was this demo as bad for everyone else as it was for me? At times it was unplayable. Even when it was running okay, gameplay just didn't seem all that great . I was pretty excited about this game unfortunately.

I enjoyed the hell out of the demo. By the time it ended I was running hard mode on the stronghold and destroying stuff with my colossus. Flamethrower + Lightning coil = easy combos for crazy AOE damage.

Ranger is fun too. Single target monster. a decent scout rifle and a frost grenade then boom with the pulse beam.

I'm gonna main the colossus. The builds will really open up when you have all 6 component slots available and then tailor the loadout for the mission you will be playing. Example: in the Stronghold we had access to, you needed at least 1 medium to long range weapon to handle the open parts at the beginning and the boss at the end. My abilities were short range only so I had to be able to reach out and touch something when needed, so I went with a scout rifle with 3 round burst and a constrictor shotty.

This game is basically Destiny, The Division, and Mass Effect Andromeda all rolled into 1 game, which I like.

Pretty unplayable for me too. Pretty much took me the entire weekend just to finish the story mission because I had to fight through infinite loading screens.

Hell, I never even got the chance to try out different javelins because the game would freeze at loading screens. Not impressed so far, but it was an early build. Might give it a shot next weekend but I don’t know yet.

Agreed. Plus you have to get health and armor stats on your component gear.

Yup

Using the shield as an actual shield took a bit to get used to

Yeah. I dive in from above, the AOE melee knockd down enemies. Then I light them up with flame thrower, activate the lightning coil and pull up shield. Sit there while everything dies to AOE explosions, pick up health drops, next mob. Mobs that survive that get a shield bash and more flame thrower, but generally the AOE from the unshielded enemies does enough to at least get their blue bar down.

Shotgun with knockdown do a great job on flying enemies too. Auto cannon or Scout rifle with a knockdown shotty.

I didn't think it was too good either. I only played each mission once on normal. First 3 story with the Ranger. Storm for the stronghold.

I will get the next demo another shot but this needed to knock me out of the park for me to buy it. (Because their is no PVP)

What didn't you like? I'm curious. Sure I think it had some flaws like the UI and compass / map not being very useful, but the stronghold was fun. The missions are so-so.

I find the combat satisfying, just like mass effect andromeda. The combat in that game was outstanding no matter your opinion on the game itself. I played on hard mode after getting power lvl 17 green gear on all slots and never had any issues with it being too hard or too easy. The verticality of the game adds depth to the combat for sure. Never found anything "cheap" or unfair.

The neutral zone could use some serious work, sure. The launcher needs some work, a mini map is needed pretty badly, loading and connectivity issues abound. Some skills and guns need some tweaking to make them as useful as other options in their slot. All of these things are not good, but at its core this, to me, is a very fun game to play in the moment of combat and traveling. Takes some pain to get to that point at the moment but those things are QOL fixes, not core gameplay mechanics.

I finished yesterday with the interceptor javelin basically super fast ninja one with blades.

It was so fast, had 3 jumps, and a triple chain movement mode.

The faster you zip around and chain movement, the stronger damave multipiers went with melee.

It was fun as hell and super, super fast

Each Jav has a feature like this that makes them fun to play. Storm hovers over the battle and rains down pain, Colossus wades into the battle dishing out AOE and crowd control goodness while still feeling fast paced. Ranger surveys the field, looking for opportunities to alter the battle with a big hitter on a single target or a shield for his buddies while chipping away with guns from medium range. All fun, all interesting.
Colossus and Ranger are going to be my focus when the game launches.
