Anyone have any tips on getting the third star for the island? Isabelle tells me to plant flowers I plant 20+ more of them. Then she tells me thats good and to plant trees I plant 10+ trees than she goes back to saying plant more flowers. Does it ever end?

Turnips 541 will probably be open for an hour or so unless anyone can’t make it in that time frame then I’ll open up again

against my will i ditched clay for ankha yesterday

Clay has grown on me. I don’t have same urge to boot him from the island as I did a month ago. He’s pretty chill and looks like an Ewok. If he ever asks to leave, I may let him. But he’s so damn lazy, I doubt he ever offers.

My current island:
Goose (chicken)
Ketchup (red girl duck)
Clay (as above)
Bianca (white tiger)
Lobo (purple wolf)
Savanah (zebra)

And the rest I invited with bootleg amiibo cards:
Louie (gorilla)
Peewee (gorilla)
Leonardo (tiger)
Tasha (skunk looking squirrel)

My wife found some seller on Etsy who makes her own amiibo stickers. You can get any villager you want for $6/piece except for like 5 certain characters. It’s just a white sticker but they work great and just like the real deal. Beats the $20-50+ amiibo cards being sold online.

I may be wrong, but I don’t think I ever knowingly or actively did anything for 3 stars. I spent my first month just taking my time and building infrastructure and houses. It felt like 3 star level came once I had like 6+ villagers. I did plant some new fruit trees during that time, but I never actively planted flowers until just couple weeks ago.

Everything on your island is worth points.

To get a 3 star rating, you need a "development score" of 160-399 and a "scenery score" of 270-349.

Development is based on shops, bridges, inclines, bought furniture, fences.

Scenery is based off crafted furniture and natural flora.

If Isabelle is complaining about trees and flowers, she is trying to get your scenery score high enough to qualify for the additional island star. Trees are 1 point each when fully grown, flowers are fractions of a point until fully grown and bloomed and count 1 point each at that stage. All kinds of trees count towards the scenery total - hardwood, fruit, cedar, bamboo, coconut.

DIY furniture counts too though, the math is a little less straightforward but it's more or less 1 point per give or take.

Your best bet may be a combination of crafting DIY items and finding uses for them across the island plus going nuts with flowers. Also spread out where you're putting things - try to make sure you're not overly clogging up one area and leaving another undeveloped. You can even put furniture on the rocky outcroppings behind the island if that helps.

ETA: You can very quickly add trees and flowers to your island by doing nook miles tickets, going to mystery islands, eating fruit and stealing literally everything you can.

Yeah wow , that’s much more complex than I assumed. 3 star is needed for Slider to visit. I always just wrongly assumed it was tied directly to certain number of villagers needed for him to hold a concert.

I'm pretty content with my villagers now that I got Marina, but if Charie, Rizzo, or Benedict wanna leave I won't stop em.

Marina (octopus)
Reneigh (horse)
Merengue (rhino)
Flora (a flamingo who's pretending to be an ostrich lol)
Scoot (duck)
Benedict (chicken)
Charie (monkey)
Rizzo (mouse)
Keaton (eagle)
Teddy (bear)

Yea, I've made my own nfc tag stickers that spoof amiibos. It takes a minute because the instructions aren't 100% clear, but it's easy after you've done one or two.

2 star requires at least 7 residents have moved in, so that's a factor, but once you're at 2 star it's just about getting the points to get to 3.

Also if you think this is bad with the flowers and trees, I feel like I spent forever putting out furniture trying to make Isabelle happy enough for 5 stars. I learned later the big ticket items count as more points and buying a lighthouse and putting it out off the back of my island was what put me over the edge.

Nice. You should start selling them online for $5/pc. Undercut the competition, ha

My 5 star came the day after I put out mannequins for the first time. I’m not sure how close I was to it otherwise.

I was certain she’d bump me back down to 4 stars when I removed them, but I’ve remained 5 star. I did add a large satellite dish and solar panel on mountaintop during my mannequin week, so maybe those were the big ticket items that kept me at 5 stars.

I have Celeste trapped for the next hour if anyone wants a recipe.

Code is 3YTHF; she's trapped on the far west side, basketball court.

What do you think of Merengue? We are thinking of getting her. She was rated highly on some acnh sites but that doesn't always mean much.

We have
Dom (sheep)
Plucky (chicken)
Audie (wolf)
Fauna (deer)
Ankah (cat)
Lily (frog)
Marina (octopus)
Julian (horse-unicorn)
Curlos (sheep) - first campground visitor - probably the next to go

We had Big Top (elephant) but he FINALLY FINALLY left today. He was our first villager after the initial 2 and we have hated him from the start. He will be replaced tomorrow by Caroline(squirrel)

For what it's worth I want Merengue. I like the food-themed villagers.

My villagers are:
Hazel (squirrel -- one of the first 2--her unibrow makes her look like Anthony Davis's daughter)
Boots (alligator -- one of first 2)
Audie (wolf)
Hamlet (hamster)
Chrissy (rabbit)
Hornsby (rhino)
Rex (lion)
Chops (pig--first campsite villager--really want his arse to be grass)
Keaton (eagle)
Plucky (chicken)

In my campsite I regret not inviting Tangy the orange cat or Bill the duck, but each of them wanted to kick out a villager I was not willing to part with. I also kicked out Peaches the horse for Hornsby. I didn't like that she never opened her eyes. Do I have any villagers that are decent? After Chops, I can't decide who to boot.

I love Audie. I am only so so on Plucky. She is ok but she may go if I can find someone I like better.

I think we are going to try to get Marshal (squirrel) by way of amiibo cards to replace Curlos. I want Sherb but not sure we will get him.

She's great. Her personality meshes well with the other villagers, and my 2 girls adore her. Although, if you dig back a few weeks ago in this thread you'll see pics of her torrid love affair with Teddy
