How do you process anything once they start building the museum? Tom won't accept anymore bugs or shite to give me new crafting things like shovels, etc... Do I just wait til it's built?
Yes, it will be built on the next day. You should also try to get your house on the next day as well so you can have access to an 80 item storage. That way, you can store some of the different bugs/fish/etc. you collect that you can eventually donate to the museum.
Nice.
Pro tip for those that may not now. If you eat any of the fruit on your island, your character will become stronger. As a result, if you hit the rocks on your island with shovel or axe, they will break the rocks. The reason this is important is because, you want to hit all of the rocks multiple times, get all of the loot from the rock (clay, small rocks, and esp the iron nuggets), THEN eat your fruit and smash the rocks afterwards, giving you an additional small rock. They will respawn on the following day.

Man, frick sharing the island on one switch.
My kids have already farmed all the fruit, rocks, weeds, and done the special things like unlocking tool recipes and the museum. Nintendo low key did this on purpose to make parents go buy switch lites for the kiddos.

So far all my times been spent fishing and playing around with the design editor. I like that it makes you take your time but the urge to frick with the system clock is strong
. Gonna try to remain pure though.
First attempt at the Tiger Eye. Tried making the standard LSU logo but there isnt enough space to make it look good on clothing.

I cheated the game last night and time traveled to Sunday and Monday to open my museum and open up Nooks, then went back to Saturday.
I had to get it done before the turnip lady came through today or else my turnips would've rotted.

Bought the game today, went though the first day and like everyone else has said: it's going to be hard not to screw with the time mechanics

I've never played an Animal Crossing game but with the lockdown and what not I'm thinking about jumping into this one.

I have an orange island, you are friends with me but I'll get you my codes in a little bit
ETA: I ended up skipping forward 2 days to at least finish up the museum and get a house. I also purchased the quality tools diy kit.
I think I'm going to stay on day 3 and let the game catch up with me as I do things.
