A Question on Fallout 4

Attempting to give this game another shot, but playing it on PS4 has me wondering. Is Fallout 4 a game really designed for anyone but the most die hard Fallout fans?

It doesn't matter if you are a fallout fan necessarily.
Do you like those type of games? Open world questing, rpg etc

I'd say the opposite imo it was designed for more casual RPG fans

No you just hate every game, nothing new move on everyone.

I wanted to love Fallout 3 and hated it. Boring as hell.
Can't imagine enjoying Fallout 4 either.
It's the Bethesda games. They just don't do anything to draw me in.

Every fallout and TES game is great to me, but i can completely understand why each one can turn people off.
I thought fallout 4 was exceptionally well done, but i loved settlement building and dont care much for dialog options. If someone hated settlement building and wants great dialog then yeah..fallout 4 will fall short of expectations

NV and FO4 are both much better than FO3.

Perhaps I just don't know how to play. I've never beaten a Fallout game before, but I did enjoy Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Fallout 4 just seems poorly designed. Even in the first hours of the game, too many enemies. Turrets pop out from under everything shredding your health. Enemies spam grenades or fire rockets at you from off screen, killing you before you even see what hit you. I've even been killed immediately after entering/existing a door to a new area. Enemies seem to deal a lot more damage to you than you to them, and they are much faster. The slightly tougher enemies spawn too frequently in bad spots making things all the more difficult.
It just seems to me like this game is designed for people who have already played a lot of Fallout 3 and NV. There's no real tutorials to speak of or methods by which to ease the player into the experience.
Not the biggest fan of the base building either, but I understand most of it can be skipped.

It is the difficulty of fallout 4 that is turning you off? lol what kind of games do you play?

I loved Fallout 3, and New Vegas is one of my all time favorites. But I found Fallout 4 too slow paced, it's a good game, but good god it is slow paced.
I'm working on another playthrough with more mods that I probably won't finish until over a year from now.
New Vegas is the best in the series. It took out all of the long, tedious parts of FO3. Plus the factions in NV are much more interesting then the factions in FO4.

In all fairness, the beginning of fallout 4 is harder than any of the other ones. Until you level up a bit and find decent weapons, you'll probably die a lot.

I disagree with this. I mean, you get power armor within the first 30 minutes of the game. While there is a good difficulty curve in FO4, this can be mitigated by not over leveling, OP food, and VATs spam.
In FO3 you can run right into some deathclaws if you go the wrong way and all you will have is a 10mm and some vault armor.
If you want a really difficult game at the start, play the original Fallout.

I found the story/characters on fallout 4 to be severely lacking compared to 3.

It is a bit harder at the beginning but I search everywhere and do everything so leveling up and finding better weapons was not a problem. There are some good perks that help too.
