A question about Zelda games

I haven't played any since Majora's Mask. Are any of the newer ones worth buying a console for?

Breath of the Wild is a great game, could be the best Zelda. Get a switch for it? I would just bc the switch is promising and has a great portability factor to it as well
But if you just want to play BOTW (and you do) you could just get a used wiiU for $100 to play it.

Breath of the Wild and Twilight Princess are the best since 1997.
Wind Waker was a drag and Skyward Sword was highly uninspired and tried to tie loose ends instead of just making a good game.
But Breath of the Wild blows just about every Zelda game outside of OoT and A Link to the Past out of the water.

I like the idea of having the switch for something to travel with

I actually bought the Switch just for BOTW. I am not disappointed. I am not a huge gamer like most on here, but it's my favorite solo game I've ever played. It is very different than Ocarina of Time and Majora's mask, though. You will recognize a lot of names and characters, but there are probably more differences in the games than similarities.

I liked BotW but probably not as much as lot of people here. The word looks and feels enormous, and you can pretty well run/climb through every inch of it. Invisible walls barely exist in this game.
The problem I have though is the large world is mostly devoid of what I would consider interesting content. The game tends to center around a loop of climbing towers and discovering challenge shrines. The shrines are little mini-dungeons with one or two physics-based puzzles. These are fun for the most part and sometimes you can complete them in more than one way.
The weapon breaking mechanic is incredibly annoying. Even the master sword can only be used so many times before it needs to be put away for awhile even if it never breaks.
There's not much story to speak of. This is all due to the idea that, at least in theory, you can kill the final boss as soon as you step out of the intro cinematic. Everything you do in the game is not actually something you have to do but can provide context to the story and make the final boss easier to kill.

The best Zelda game since MM is found on the DS, luckily BoTW is right behind that one.

I'm not a huge gamer as well but wouldn't mind something to play on while traveling. I need to look at the other games for the Switch and see if it is worth it

I agree. WW was pretty meh. I’m not a fan of the sea gameplay at all.

Spot on. The game is good, but very overrated.

Yup. Felt like I got wayyy more content from OoT and some of the other games than I did from BoTW even in its size.
