Get a Wii U. As far as I know, every home console Zelda game is on available on the Wii U and even some of the Gameboy games are too.

And no, the Phillips CD-i games don't count as real Zelda games.

BOTW is fun as shite and looks great but honestly, it doesnt do a great job of telling you what to do. I basically ran around just attacking NPCs that regen and climbed towers. I had to use google to help bc am tarded.

That was by design and after all the handholding shite in the more recent games in the series, is absolutely a breath of fresh air.

Yeah I think the main missions and stuff were pretty straightforward as to what I needed to do.. Now the "How" to do it all was kinda left up to the player, which like you said, was a fun aspect.

That being said, there was still a ton of shrines/armor upgrades/side missions/how to beat certain enemies I needed to google because for the life of me I couldn't figure out on my own. Sometimes I'd just rather look up a spoiler than spend God knows how long figuring out how to get a shard of Naydra's horn or w/e

I wasn't a fan of the rip rap cell shading style. But I liked sailing through the gameplay. Maybe one day it'll get a Switch port.

Just saw this thread and wanted to point out that if you do any gaming on the PC you can fully emulate BotW and use whichever controller you like to play with(played through with Xbone controller). I think the Switch is still a great investment, but if you just want to play one or two games or try them out you can go PC route. You can also emulate every other Zelda entry using this method. The software runs the game on a PC as smoothly as Switch and better than WiiU.

Start here at Cemu(the emulator) on subreddit and can go from there
