I don’t care if it does take 15 minutes, that ain’t quick for breakfast

A quick breakfast is something you do in 2 minutes running to your car because you are late for work or running from your mistress house cause her husband is on his way home

Why are y'all so triggered over my answer to a simple question?

If I'm running out the door, I just don't eat breakfast.

Y'all are the try hards here.

I usually just get drive thru when that happens.

I'm not triggered, THO. I just want the quickie shrimp and grits recipe. I don't eat breakfast much either unless I eat it for lunch, which I guess is brunch.

2 eggs, some sort of cooked meat/sausage crumbles, and cheese made a few different ways. I generally will either do an omelette or even easier is to add the meat and cheese in a bowl, heat in the microwave, and fry 2 eggs and mix it all together. If I am being really lazy just mix it all in the bowl with the egg and microwave.

Depends. Did you start eating before noon? If so, that is brunch. But you have to drink a bloody with it.

If you started eating after noon, that's linner. Or lupper. Depends on if you're in a city or rural parish.

No, I meant pride and net, not you.

I'm probably underestimating the time, didn't know it would trigger net. The last time I made it was for a couple friends right before we went to this event and one kept joking all day that he just wanted a sandwich but I threw shrimp and grits on his plate in 15 minutes.

Boil 2 cups of milk and 2 cups of water. Whisk in grits, cook on low whisking often.

While it's simmering, chop and sautee bacon and onions, add flour for a light roux. Whisk in chicken stock. Season to taste, then add shrimp.

Whisk cheddar and butter into the finished grits and serve. I use an all clad sauce pan for grits and they usually only simmer 15ish minutes. Burned them the first time when I went 20.

Well if I was truly in a rush, I just wouldn't eat, like normal.

I'm in sales and start my day when I want so I'm never really in a rush though. I just don't eat breakfast anyways.

Exactly. My go to breakfast is coffee, a cig, and regret

Dude,

I love shrimp. And I love grits. I love shrimp and grits. But when you talk about making them quickly for breakfast you lose me. That's just crazy talk.

Jump in my car and drive up to McDonald’s. I load up on hash browns. Also I’ll get a sausage biscuit.

With the rest of the thread as a good primer, I actually laughed out loud when I got to the "make a roux" part of your quick breakfast recipe.

Thanks. Do you use any butter during the saute or just the bacon grease?

Bacon grease and flour whisked together and cooked for like a minute.

Not all rouxs are for gumbo...

No I just render out the bacon grease and that's usually enough. If it's not, I have a can of bacon grease to add more.

Thanks. I keep a stash of bacon grease as well. If you have a few spare minutes, give them a topping of a few chopped green onions and parsley.
