See how this works?

why do some of y'all get so offended when someone likes a restaurant? it always happens

I don't get it

If you hate the restaurant, don't go, don't be so insecure that you have to get all butthurt on the internet because someone said a restaurant that you don't like is good

I think it's kind of sad how much people defend mediocre food. But they do have every right to do so.

It's not that people don't like the food. Everyone's got their own taste and opinions and that's fine.

It's the attitude that people have when they feel a place is beneath them, like they're better than other people just because they eat at a certain restaurant or like a certain band.

Not really a surprise why this board has a bad reputation for being snobby foodies.

Beneath them? No.

I think BR natives are used to SG so much that they don't even want anything different. The article says that this will be an "a bit more upscale". Maybe SG will be able to pull this off. But I'm skeptical. I'm just a bit worn out of the same exact kind of places popping up all over the city. If that makes me a "snobby foodie", then so be it.

Guess what I had been hearing was correct.

LINK

As a neighborhood person, I like it. I think there are much better Mexican restaurants in BR but it's a stone's throw from my house so I can grab a margarita or some quick lunch really easily.

I think this is the most stupid thing I've read.

Tell you what Beam. I've got $200k to put in and you match me and you can build any kind of place you want. But you put a personal guarantee on the $400k total and let's see how long it will last. Need more than that? I'm sure Rohan will cough up $7.49. I'll even run down the free range chickens and eggs and grass fed beef and just across the street from the place the old man has an organic vegetable farm I'm sure we can get a deal on fresh produce.

Apparently you have no concept of how much these things cost.

With ample parking and the location it will be packed on most occasions

I can see parking being a problem especially at 5:00 which would be peak Happy Hour at SG, peak work out hour at Max Fitness and peak shopping hour at the Mathernes. Max members already take up all the parking for what would be the parking for SG at 5:00

FBD Disclaimer: "Yes, all who enter this board, regardless of current or former residence, realize that Baton Rouge is not the globally renowned food destination city that NOLA is. We also realize that it is not a mid-size wasteland of culinary failure, and if you can't find a meal you enjoy in this town, the failure is entirely yours."

Holy shite I forgot about this thread. My throwaway joking/trolling comment has rustled some jimmies like crazy jeez.

But yes, I do think Superior Grill is...at best...mediocre. And I feel like that is being a bit generous.

But if you like it, good for you. I mean, its a lot better than Velvet Cactus's food. Not saying much, but it has that going for it.

As someone who frequents that Matherne's several times a week, I'm also kind of worried about parking. It might not be a big deal, but I walk around Perkins Rd. Park every week and see how the grassy extra parking area for The Rum House fills up in the early evening. (And supposedly the food at The Rum House is just "ok" too.)

But I agree that the location needs something with SG's pockets to revitalize it, as so many smaller places haven't lasted long at all. And what's the closest Mexican food in this area? La Carretta or Mi Padre on Bluebonnet? Zippy's on Perkins, Fuzzy Taco and Izzo's on Burbank are more college-crowd kind of places.
