When my grandmother was in her early stages of dementia, she became very adept at covering her forgetfulness. Things like saying something distracted her,or making up phrases, saying "this or that" instead of what she was actually trying to say, claiming she misunderstood or didn't hear something right......just like Tom has been doing the past couple of years - and he's getting worse.

I figured you might be his son.....

No way TFitz could use an emoji properly. I'm guessing a son or nephew. Definitely related though.

I haven't listened to the show in years, but after seeing this thread I tuned in a few days ago to hear Tom and Mary Ann discussing their recent dinner at Mr. B's. Tom was describing how Mr. B's doesn't take reservations and you have know someone or be of certain quality for them to seat you quickly. I couldn't tell if he was joking but it seemed sincere. He must have given the wrong phone number 20 times during the 20 minutes I listened.

Mr. B's takes reservations by phone or on Open Table. It has always taken reservations. He's got to be losing it and if Mary Ann agreed with him, she must be losing it, too.

I thought that his Saturday show a few years back with Mary Ann was great. He does better with her and the show is livelier, for sure.

He so much reminds me of Kaare Johnson.
He spends 30% of his time trying to act superior to his callers, and refusing to consider any different viewpoints.
He spends 70% of his time shilling for his half-dozen advertisers.

I am listening to the second hour of his May 8, 2019, show as I type this. I'm almost 20 minutes in..........no callers yet. As a result Tom is talking about Shaya, where he took his family to lunch Wednesday, and describing the menu in detail.

Sorry he trashed your restaurant.
What is the name of it so I don't go?

I honestly think he has early Alzheimer’s. He frequently struggles to remember restaurants names, or the locations of restaurants.
That has absolutely nothing to do with early onset Alzheimers.
