Anyone else like Ravenswood for an under $15 bottle? Seems decent enough for me.

Didn’t impress me even at $15.
Give it a try and tell us what you think.

Cab or blend?

I saw the mention of BlackenedOut's wine but not much else.

I need to pick a few for the week so was looking for some inspiration.

Blend. I’ll let y’all know.

I like Smith & Hook Cabernet too.

What are you looking for?

Pinot Noir is basically the standard pairing for Thanksgiving, but rose is a great one too. You don't want to go too heavy so both of those are perfect.

Nothing in particular, just like seeing what other people have planned and reading about various bottles and producers I may not have heard of. With a lot of people off and/or traveling it's really more of "what are you going to open this week" as opposed to pairing for Thanksgiving itself. I figure some folks might be getting into some of their better stuff with family gatherings involved.

We're bringing some pinot/burgundy and beaujolais, but not sure I have anything particularly interesting that's ready yet. Was thinking about splurging on something I don't know a lot about - like maybe a vintage champagne if I could find one.

Hell yeah.

I'm thinking these for this week, though I may keep the Heitz at home just for the wife and me. Might just sub that out and bring the 1.5L of Mercury Head. It'll be this plus the Rombauer my FIL buys by the case every month.

Umm, flip that around. (What year is the MH?)

The Heitz is a 2014 Linda falls, Howell mountain fruit. Less than 700 cases produced. It's not the regular $60 bottle.

Not sure the year on the Mercury Head. My wife won it, and she's picking it up today. I have a 2014 750 in my wine fridge already.

I should own part of that mountain with as much of their wine that we drink.

TH03,

Next time you're in FW, let's meet up at Classic Wine off of Hulen and we'll pop some bottles.
