Long story short...
About a year ago, we had a really really bad idea. While chasing that rabbit down its hole, we happened to have a great meeting with Sam Tannahill (A to Z, Rex Hill). He basically told us to just "make a wine for BBQ/Grilled Foods"
He set us up with Lynn Penner-Ash and she put together a bunch of blends, we picked the one we thought went best with the foods we really like to eat. Purchased juice, blended it, bottled it, and brought it to market. Its a blend of Syrah from the Columbia Gorge and Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills in the Willamette.
Its been a really fun project. Try it and let us know what you think.

I really don't think there's been any of that in here, but okay.

Smith & Hook Cabernet is very decent for being under $20. Anyone else enjoy this wine?

Yeah it's solid for $15-18. Hahn makes some good wine. Their Lucienne line of Pinot Noir is very good.

Responded to a 7 month old thread with 200+ responses, poo poo’ing the original idea. Nailed it brah.
Cooking a lil chicken cacciatore tonight and broke this old Christmas gift out. Really nice with some age on it.
Re: Boucaner wine. Any place I can find that in BR mid next week? Been hearing good things, and to be honest, price point and intention/flavor profile sounds right up my alley (pairs well w/ bbq/smoked meats). Let me know where I can snag it, or if I’m SOL

First bottle of likely a couple tonight. Good for a Cali Pinot, a style of which I'm usually not the biggest fan.

Been a big fan of Chapellet. The Pinot isn’t their best offering, but I like theirs. But I also like some CA pinots.

I’ve drank through a case of Boucaner between bringing it to parties and personal consumption. Great wine in that price range. Well done, BO

It’s not for me to tell you what to like or vice versa. What you like is what you like. When I taste wine I just want to know if I like it. I’m learning to filter what will change over time with wine so I can see where it’s going to go. The best way to do this is to do vertical tastings of a wine. You can see what it can become.
I don’t look for mineral, or chocolate, or berries or any of that. Do I like the taste? If so, I’ll probably buy it. I try to keep it simple.

2010 was a really good year for Sangiovese. We were fortunate enough to be in Tuscany the year it was released. Look for 2015 as well and when the 2016 is released in 2021 they’re saying it may be an all-time great year for Brunello.

I'll be there when it happens.

No wine tonight, but last week I polished off a bottle of the cuttings. Just getting into wine and been ordering stuff from Vivino.

I probably will as well. We go every three years and 2021 is that year. Another epic wine tasting at La Fortezza in Montalcino. I can’t wait.
