I ordered a whole fish in New Orleans Saturday night and wasnt overly impressed. Id rather not say the restaurant because everything else we had that night was good, but it just made me want another whole fish thats actually good. Ive gotten one at Soji in BR, but I dont see it on the menu there anymore. Does anywhere else in BR have a whole fish on the menu? Im fine with Asian or Cajun style.

Rouse's will have whole fish probably every other week. This week was pompano. Whole foods will usually have some type of whole fish. Alexander's Market had them when they first opened, but not so much anymore. Costco has whole fish sometimes, too.

Seriously? Didn't know that. Everything I've had there has been good, but I generally stick to the aforementioned flounder & oysters.

We used to go there for work once a month. The water tastes like it's been soaked in chemicals, small shrimp, to name a few things. Best food I've had there was the free hushpuppies.

very true. We have a retiree group that meets there for lunch occasionally and the water is horrible. Even the ice, so getting a soft drink or tea isn't much better.

As with so many other issues in life, beer and wine are the answer.

It was 34, Emerils new restaurant. I feel bad saying anything because everything else was great (cheese board, random meats, bread, steak, drinks, atmosphere), but the fish was crunchy on the outside and mushy in the middle. Very weird. I liked the whole fish a Peche.

I think I will be going to Dukes soon! Ive had food from there but never the whole fish. I always thought everything else was good.

What species of fish? Maybe that was the culprit.

It's weird - this is the first time I've heard anyone talking negatively about it. I haven't been in a while, but my meals there have always been good

Wondered the exact same thing because every "whole fish" dish I've had there has been spot on.
