I do not own one but have eaten tagine dishes many times at Moroccan and Tunisian restaurants. Always very tasty.

A tagine is a clay pot originating in northern Africa used as an air-tight slow cooker. The dishes I have had were either lamb or chicken cooked with vegetables making a stew like dish.

Here is a link that gives some more info.

My mother used one for different types of poultry. Always came out great.

My friend went to Morocco last year and said the same thing. He said by day 3, they were desperately seeking out a McDonalds because they couldn’t stomach another tagine meal.

What does the cone shape do for the cooking? What advantage does it give over a Dutch oven?

The McArabia (big mac on pita) is pretty solid but yea, we were there for a couple of months. Awhile in some resturant was serving spaghetti and meatballs..... we were all so damn pumped to be eating anything but tagine or couscous cous, you woulda thought we were getting filet mignon.

Think the moisture it retains. If I recall she did rice at the bottom at the same time.
