Any vegetable.
It was typically out of the frozen box and into the steamer. Combination of frozen and then steamed made it horrible.
Still can't eat most vegetables unless they are raw.

My parents both cook well, so that was never a problem. Issues with different foods were mostly due to smell or texture and in a few cases, flavor of the veg or meat, but not the result of the preparation.
I couldn't stand the smell of mustard greens and my Dad liked to cook them on Sundays quite often. I couldn't go near the kitchen because the smell made me gag. Today, the smell makes me salivate in a good way.

quote:I hate this so much that I sometimes undercook them. I was assigned burger duty for a party at my house once. I am balancing other duties and scared to over cook the burgers. When I am done and everyone is eating, I can see the profile of the patties in other's burgers. OMG some of them were beet red. I did not know what to do and was one of the most uncomfortable moments of my life. No one complained.
My family also cooked hamburgers to death.

I did not know food could be had not burned until I was 9. My dad couldn't spell kitchen much less cook. Her cooking sucked so bad! But hey, she's my mom and God bless her I love her. Because of my mom I took up cooking. That's my positive spin I put on eating burnt food in my youth.

My mom and her family cooked such a greasy gumbo. It turned me off to gumbo until I was at least 25.

Steak. No one in my family would've eaten a bloody steak. I didn't learn how to eat a Medium Rare Ribeye until I was almost 30.
